I think that JiB said how I feel about growing the hobby far better than I could have. I really do think it is a responsibility of every gamer to spread the game to at least one more person. I will post more as I continue listening.

LOL! Sir Guido, please note you beat me to posting about this and my reactions are purely about what was said on the podcast.
Responsibility for growing the hobby? Bullshit.
If I have the opportunity I will do so, but I really don't see the grandiose "I want to keep this hobby running after I have passed" or however it was stated.
I am here to play. To have fun. To enjoy the company of friends.
I agree with the don't be a dick. Also, don't be elitist. But these things should stem out of wanting to treat people like you want to be treated, and not out of growing the hobby for mine or future generations.

But these things should stem out of wanting to treat people like you want to be treated, and not out of growing the hobby for mine or future generations. We are dealing with a guy that is known as the "Portly Paladin" and in my experience the paladin was the one guy who was always trying to "get shit done". While everyone else in the party ran around with their bag of wrenches and thought of new and creative ways to steal from each other.. . "Hey guys it is our responsibility to take on the Evil Red Dragon and protect the town from its fiery doom..." Again, the results of that DnD character personality test have a high probability correlation (at least in my pre-coffee, groggy brain) with the responses from their various avatars. Responsibility=Lawful. I now have a new way to explain the shitty alignment system... The email with the character pulling the ladder up, leaving the other characters stranded ? If you have a group of friends that are willing to engage in such PvP madness and everyone can agree to be "mad" but not butt hurt? Game ON! That's what makes Paranoia such a lovely go to. (Each character can die six times...and six different ways!) As far as my limited experience as a marketing guru...(that'd be ZERO.) Drama, Tension, Conflict sounds like either 1. a bullet points list for a weekend long manager/teacher seminar 2. symptoms of adult male menopause 3. an artsy prog-rock band (like BTO) 4. symptoms of male performance enhancement drug overdose... I put it in the chat room but why not call it STU RPS SUPER TERRIFIC UNIVERSAL ROLEPLAYING SYSTEM! (And then someone could run out and throw glitter and snap their fingers...) Like I said Marketing Guru Level 0.

I originally typed Drama Tension Conflict as I was staring at a blank page (the title page) for like 10 minutes trying to come up with a name for it. It was literally an attempt at brainstorming, and I read it and muttered to myself, "meh, good enough for now."
So in that sense, it's very much a working title. STURPS makes me laugh, but it also sounds like a disease. GOOCH. I dunno.
I was thinking L.E.T.H.A.L., but I'm thinking it might carry some baggage.

And early candidate was DIRP, Dynamically Integratable Role-Playing.
The Moment of Truth thing is becoming very central to the game (since the last round of playtests).
Maybe MOT the RPG.

If it is someone else's responsibility to promote the hobby who then are we going to trust with that? Do we really want the mouth breathing neckbeard min-maxing munchkin to be the representative of the hobby? Do we want to turn around 10 years from now and every company that was publishing games is out of business and there's nothing new being published and all there is to play is the last version of ... (fill in the blank). More people playing = more money in the market place = more profit = more games and game stuff being produced. I'm not being altruistic or noble. I'm being totally fucking selfish. I want more stuff published to play. The only way to guarantee that is to get more people playing the games. JiB

Jib, that's kind of where I'm coming from. I'd love to play, and there's a serious lack of players here in corpus. So I have a couple options - I can go out and get some new players (be an ambassador to the hobby), I can get into an online group, or I can grouse about how there isn't anyone to play with.

Definitely grouse, especially if you do it on the internets.

Definitely grouse, especially if you do it on the internets. Well, that is the 2nd purpose of the internet after porn isn't it? JiB Addendum Stu should make all conversation in combat in the L5R game be conducted in haiku.
