It also has Kender, which are Dragonlance.
So I think there is a chance these are not "core" book additions, just a look at some of the stuff they intend on supporting. If this is supposed to be a game for all eras, it would make sense that they include how to make races for older campaign settings.
Some more of my "fluff" change hopes have come to pass:
Gladiator and Knight changed for the fighter. YES, I hate when paths have their own "lore" built in to them. Making them more generic is better. Before the last playtest, Knight was a background, as it should be since Knights can be many classes because its a social rank.
Rangers: Dragonslayer renamed to Coloussus Slayer, YES(also if you haven't played shadow of the colossus, do that). I disliked Dragonslayer because anyone could be a dragon slayer... a dragon hunter? That works, except their skills were not suited for dragons only. I like, again, the name being more generic(but still cool sounding).

Even if they do show up in the core book, who cares? Rule Zero, and all that.
