I thought all women in gaming were lovely unicorns.
And as an utterly unconnected tangent...just because it's one of the random "related web thingies" proboards encourages me too look at....Russell Crowe is in a NOAH movie ?!?
And there are apparently NINETEEN heinous tattoo mistakes...thanks proboards *further doubts purpose in life*.

Thanks. Another book I am going to have to buy... . 'Wife-animal companion' - ROFLMAO Details!!!!! Aaron Lol! That started from the characters being around 5th level and I was still using a random encounter table when they traveled through the forest (the campaign setting was kinda "points of light"-ish, meaning few spots of civilization within a broader, dangerous area). I rolled a unicorn encounter and almost tossed it out and rerolled (btw I roll my random encounters before the session, because I make them fit the session). On a whim I remembered that one of my characters was playing the widowed husband of the local elven chief's daughter. The character had written a bit of a backstory on how his character was raised by elves and then he married the clan chief's daughter and she was eventually killed by marauding orcs. The player was playing his character as a still-mourning slayer of all life and I had tried multiple things to get him to allow his character to grow out of the slump. Enter the randomly rolled unicorn and a stroke of brilliance on a drive into work on day and I came up with the idea that the nature spirits had reincarnated the elven woman as a unicorn to continue to protect the forest she loved. I threw that across the heroes path one session as they traveled through the woods and it started an epic character arc that is nearing a major plot point (getting her back into humanoid form). It has been a ton of fun and the character has really grown throughout the process. He took her on as an animal companion and we have worked out a system for having him keep her as a humanoid by being a pseudo-animal companion/cohort. While being a great part of the plot, the other players have had fun making fun of the dude's wife being an animal. We also have a cavalier in our group and he was trying to mate his horse with the unicorn for awhile...it was hilarious as we roleplayed her having some animal tendencies as well as some humanoid intelligence. All in all, it has been a fun use of a randomly rolled encounter.

Awesome, but the beastiality jokes would be mandatory - with a unicorn horn in the mix, role reversal? Aaron

JiB Yep, they explain it right at the end of that movie by Monty Python 'The Meaning of Liff' - takes about 30 sec Aaron
