Fat Dragon Games(Tom Tullis is the owner) is the papercraft terrain company you were thinking of Stu.
What happens when Sea Dracula, Fire Dracula, etc get together? Why Captain Dracula of course.

Saying "Garrrr!" with a count dracula accent is rather amusing.

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 3e is super fun, and very different, mechanically, from the previous editions.
It's not very tactical, you don't even need minis to play, and you definitely don't need a grid. We use a wipe board.
There's 5 ranges of engagement.
Engaged, close, medium, long, and extreme. No AoOs,no flanking rules. Just the fun combat cards.

Sea Dracula, imagine the most ridiculous idea for an RPG setting and rules you can think of. OK, that won't be half as crazy as Sea Dracula.

If it makes you feel better, Stork, I knew the Jefferson Airplane... erm... Starship reference...
And had the song stuck in my head for about an hour...

What what? That's a bit short! What's a guy to do for the last half hour? Supply my OWN witty repartee?
Hmmm better start writing emails again rather than posting here.
But before I do, on Sidebars: one alternative sidebar I ran a few years back was in Feng Shui. One player had been set up by the mysterious forces of the invisible war AND had shot a security guard in cold blood. So he was in prison. Rather than sidebar an escape. The next session I have everyone else pre-gens and we ran a gritty prison breakout scenario. It went so well that one player wanted to keep his pregen as his regular character. (I didn't let him).

Thanks again for answering my question about the birthday / bachelor-con setup at the last minute; I was having some issues with the scope of organization for such a thing and your insights put it a bit more into perspective (i.e. it doesn't have to be a big grand thing if you don't want it to be a big grand thing.) I just needed to be reminded that "if you run it, they will game."

I use the downtime rules for Pathfinder from Ultimate Campaign for most of my side-bar / out of session stuff. Right now I have players who: own a bar/brewery, run an orphanage, run a military academy, resurrecting a forgotten culture within a race (wild-orcs), and a guy who is questing to turn his reincarnated wife-animal companion (unicorn) into an elf again (at which point he will take the leadership feat to keep her around).
I really like them and they have been a ton of fun. It is completely optional for my characters but almost all of them took me up on the offer.
