I need help with a sex move.
Not that kind of sex move, you pervs! It's for a Monsterhearts Skin. The Kitsune Skin I posted earlier has gone through some changes recently, and I don't feel the original Sex Move fits anymore. I realize only a few people in the HJ's community have played Monsterhearts (only Forresst, D.T. Pints, SirGuido, scubasteve, fray, and ironnikki that I'm aware of), but I thought I'd toss it out there anyway. I also posted this on G+.
Here's the original one:
"When you have sex with someone, gain a String on them if they think you're someone else. If this is the first time you've had sex with them in this form, mark experience as well."
The previous version of the Kitsune was all about shape shifting into other peoples' forms and causing drama. I really liked what the original Sex Move did, as it encouraged the player to sleep with a lot of different people while being "someone else". I really liked how that didn't necessarily mean you needed to be in someone else's form; you could just be in a pitch black room, or there could be mask or costumes involved. I totally see how it could be uncomfortable (is it rape if the person you have sex with thinks you're someone else?), but I was OK with it.
But now the theme of the Kitsune has changed. The Skin has become a metaphor for being a compulsive liar, and I don't think the "have sex while pretending to be someone else" Sex Move fits. While it is lying to have sex with someone when they think you're someone other than yourself, I don't think the move really captures the idea of "compulsive liar". I need to rewrite it, but I'm drawing a blank and need help.
Many of the Kitsune's moves don't work on people who have Strings on you. Like the Vampire's "Hypnotic" move. People who know something about you (mechanically represented by having a String on you) are able to see through the Kitsune's lies. So, the Kitsune doesn't want other people to have Strings on them. My initial thought for a new Sex Move was this:
"When you have sex with someone, they lose all Strings on you."
That encourages the Kitsune to sleep with people who have Strings on them, which will hopefully be a lot of different people, leading to lots of messy drama. However, their partner gets absolutely nothing out of having sex with the Kitsune. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as not all the other Sex Moves give the partner anything. But I can see other characters flat out refusing to sleep with the Kitsune, as they absolutely get nothing out of it. If I could turn this into a hard choice, that would be better. Like, allowing the Kitsune to ask their partner for something, and having the partner lose all Strings on the Kitsune if they refuse. I just can't think of what that "something" should be.
Another idea I just had was this:
"After you have sex with someone, you may offer them any number of Strings you have on other people. For each String they accept, they lose a String on you."
I think this one works better. It still gives the Kitsune a motivation to sleep with people who have Strings on them (in order to get rid of those Strings), but it gives the partner something in return. I can see the Kitsune running around, grabbing Strings on other people, just so they can sleep with that one specific person and get rid of any Strings they have on them.
Maybe it needs to be a bargain, rather than a one-for-one exchange. Something like this:
"After you have sex with someone, you may offer them any number of Strings you have on other people. If they accept, they lose all Strings they have on you."
I just realized that this is somewhat similar to the "Bargaining Ceremony" move from The Wyrm Skin, though.
