I know that many of us love to use maps in our games. This is especially true for me when I'm playing a game set in the real world.
After some searching I found a website that uses a googlemaps type of interface to create a set of map tiles. You then use a perl script (requires the smallest amount of knowledge, but they have pretty good instructions) to download the individual tiles and stitch them together into a giant png. I'm currently making one that is about 7000px^2. It's a street level map of all Boston for my Boston PD world of darkness game. with posterazor or kinko's large format printers this thing is gold.
I don't think they have sattelite images, which I would love to have for another game, but...it's still a pretty great way to make maps for a game.

Cool find!
I used personal maps in google maps, added tags and then saved it for a WoD game. I then sent the link to the players.
I found that it works wonders! I was able to mark areas of influence and 'hunting grounds' for different clans etc and it was pretty cool overall!!!!

There probably isn't any better example of AMAAAZING! RPG maps of a colossal size than Gitzman's Map of the Old World Warhammer setting. www.gitzmansgallery.com/shdmotwow.htmlSomeone should do one of these for Rokugan.

openstreetmap.gryph.de/bigmap.htmlIt's a realworld map program. Very useful for urban areas, probably less so for rural as I don't believe there is a satellite version. I got a 3'x4' version of the Boston district my PCs patrol and hung it on the wall. One of my players was so excited that he showed up with string and thumbtacks... There is a program that will do this with googlemaps, but it was taken down due to a C&D order. However, I have a copy somewhere that I can dig out. I haven't played with it so I don't know exactly the best way, but I'm sure you could make a large sattelite map if you wanted. If you want it I can send it over.
