I'm looking to replace 4E with Pathfinder, but don't know a bloody thing about it. What core books do I absolutely need?

DM's guide is just a guide - not required . Bestiary only if you're going to GM. Aaron

Aye, I'm the only GM in town. So is this like the DnD effect where I don't actually need the DM's guide?

Yep It has advice rather than necessary rules and stuff for populating areas and story structure. It a good book but not necessary Aaron

Well... if you have a tablet/laptop then you dont need ANYTHING.
Pretty much everything in Pathfinder can be found online for free on their website.

I think it was you Wolfe that was looking to play in the World of Mystarra (D&D Basic Set World). Please check out Night's Dark Terror by Jim Bambra, Phil Gallagher, Grame Morris (the guys that went on to make Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay). It is the BEST module ever created for that world. Excellent old school feel with lots of new ideas...for its time 1986. I have it and it still holds up...Cthulhu like nasties and all. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night's_Dark_Terror But of course its meant for 2-4 level characters...so perhaps your players should begin where so many greybeards began B2 Keep on the Boring Lands ( HyveMynd)...

And thanks everyone else for the feedback. Nice to know Pathfinder is an easy to start affair.

Alright, just ordered myself a copy of the Core Rulebook! Does anyone know if it includes any kind of default setting, or is it just the rules for the game itself?
