How's Feb 6th sound ? That's a Thursday (THORS DAY!) I can get on as early as 7:00 PST. What say you all ? And "oh shit!" what the hell should the topic be ? And does Stu Venable even give a flying fuck .? I think you can have up to ten people in a hangout...so a lovely mess is imminent! My opinion: I think anything with more than 4 or 5 people trying to talk will be a huge mess by the time it's done. Not intentionally, but you are talking about a lot of people, all with valid opinions, all deserving of air time. Personally, I think the best podcasts are 3-4 people as you get multiple voices on a subject and everyone gets ample time to state their views. Much more than that and it becomes a roar of people talking each over. I think four is the limit, for any kind of coherent discussion. I just sensed the band wagon rolling by...

Purely as a Hang Out - 4 max because: a)bandwidth issues start to become evident after that number b) hangouts switches focus as mics become active and, yes, more than four would be a crazy switching mess. Though this could be mitigated by individual feeds with more than one person on each end . . . those feeds would need a small mixing board to keep the individual hosts input clear (ie: dedicated mics) My availability varies from week to week . . . the glories of shift work ('swings and roundabouts'). D.T. Pints I can't thursday next week. My availability next week is Saturday all day/night or Sunday day/evening (GMT - also known as 'proper' time). NB: what about before of after MoT playtest? that could be 'a topic' . . . Aaron

I'd quote all of you but that just seems silly...Ok no THORSDAY. I just threw a calendar down the stairs and that was the day that fell the furthest...Saturday after MoT sounds great. I really enjoy having a poddy cast that occurs closely to a gaming session, my old brain needs reminders of why pontificating about this stuff matters. So here goes...I'll post up a G+ event (right after the MoT game) and the first three that pee on (figuratively) it get to be "the hosts". Why am I suddenly taking on this rather pugnacious, supercilious role ? My CLASS now says Instigator and I believe it was the INSTIGATOR during the reign of Charlemagne that fully actualized....zzzzzzzzzz. Ready GO! Lords of the Douche Present: The Argument Phase!

I say fvck it, let's try it and see what happens... maybe have someone as a moderator, so there is some control, and just tell everyone to be somewhat respectful (hahahaha). I'd say for a first one, just intro people. Maybe a "why do you listen to this shit, anyways?" That, or maybe have topics that are based on the last official recording... i.e. "what do you think of what those douchebags said in the last podcast? did they know what they were talking about? do you have further comments they missed?" type shit.

I'm half and half on the "discuss the most recent ep" thing. Definitely needs to have one or more topics to the show... It needs to be more than "hey, we are fans of the show and recorded ourselves having fangasms!" I'd say go with one or two preplanned discussion topics, like how to approach a horror game, or how to do digital prep for a roll20 game, or making those awesome game trailers, stuff like that... And then segue into q n a stuff in the same way stu centers on emails for the show.
Moderate, definitely. I think the happyjacks folks used to - and maybe still do - signal for a turn in the conversatIon in studio, and people still get talked over... So might need some signal to whoever is moderating.

Oooh! In true gamer fashion we can use dice stream to roll initiative to see who gets to talk first!

I would be up for this, though as I'm late to the party, I'd be one of the last people chosen.

While we wait for the stars to align does anyone have some recording tips? As far as sound quality goes, I know some podcasts I listen to have a workaround for that - everyone records their own mic, then uploads their part to a Dropbox, and then one person integrates the tracks. How is this done? How would I record the audio off my webcam mic? I've heard of the program audacity, but have never had a need to use it. Is there a time stamp? Just curious how someone would smash them together.

Windows has a sound recorder application, I believe you'd just set it, or audacity, or whatever to your own mic. The way I've heard it done is the moderator gives a short countdown, three two one then everyone claps. Whoever compiles the files lines up the clap noise.

How do I "not like" a post. Not all of us are from a country full of Dropbears or look at the guys on Deadliest Catch as a bunch of Prima donna wimps. Some of us ignore the trolls, like we're passing a homeless guy on the street.
