I love that Pathfinder has a rabid, let's say excited, fan base. Somehow they keep buying the Adventure Paths when there's little chance they've finished the ones they have. (I'm not judging I have plenty of books I haven't read) Many of the Rpg books I find on Kickstarter are PF compatible products and no matter how ridiculous they appear to me very few seem to fail. It seems like if Pathfinder is any way stamped on the cover someone will buy it. Now Paizo has partnered with a company to make their first Adventure Path series into full cast audio drama. Pathfinder LegendsYup, you read that right for a mere $10 you can get a 1 hour MP3 (only $15 on CD), with a full cast and special effects that will ruin the first chapter of an adventure path for you and your friends. Subsequent episodes to follow each the same price. WTF. $60 6 hour mp3? Is this the first pay for Actual Play? I find it very cheesy. Listen to the trailer. However now that Stu Venable has so many people hooked on his L5R game...the first taste is free.

At least it's one of their most famous adventures. I'd be surprised if there was very few Pathfinder fans that hadn't run or played in that one (at least once). And listening to that sample made me uncomfortable, but at least it wasn't "Dragon Strike" levels of uncomfortable: youtu.be/LhxQ66xknog

I don't even see that as being an Actual Play. It sounds more like a dramatised audio book. If that is the case then I can see why they are charging.
If there are more AP's added to the audio library, I guess Paizo will call it a success.

Actually, I'd buy it, and I don't even play Pathfinder. But I love audio drama, and there's very little in the fantasy genre for some reason.

That seems expensive to me. The Dresden books are like 8 hours each, and I think they cost 25-30 bucks.
But that doesn't mean Pathfinder fans won't buy them, they probably will, and it'll probably be lucrative for Paizo.
Depending how much they do in-house and how much they farm out, this could be very expensive to produce, or super cheap, but it'll show.
A experienced engineer and a good studio will be apparent right away. And an actual director in the recording and editing sessions will make the difference between a professional job and amateur hour.
I will be interested to see if it's commercially successful. My guess is that it will be.

There is enough decent quality AP online for free. I'll definitely be interested in how they do the foley etc, because it will be super easy to make that cheesy as hell.

I might be willing to buy them, but $10 a pop for a 1 hr audio is a pretty high asking price. Still it's being done by the same company that does all of the Doctor Who audio dramas, and those are quite excellent.

Ten bucks an hour is too much for me. I would have loved to try this, but.... Not at that price.

I do love cheesy over acting in audio dramas so this does interest me, but I'm the same way as everyone with the price tag. Just seems rather a lot for an hour. Then again, it's less like a person just reading a book and more like a produced radio show.
As for spoilers, I don't think it will be as bad

I also agree that $10/hr is too much. That's more expensive than a damn movie!

This seems like an audiobook to me as others have said. I could see maybe purchasing this kind of thing if I was going on a road trip. That's about it, though. I have no desire to sit and listen to something like this at home or in my normal, day to day life.
