Longtime listener first time …. Topic starter?.. eh, anyways. I am a fairly new Table Top RPGr in that I have only played 4e and when I say played I am GMing a game that involves my brother, his wife, 2 brothers in law and my wife. It was a daunting task stepping up to learn an entire system when personally I have never played any TTRPG. But 3+ years later we are still going strong, though I maybe a little soft on my PC’s as none have yet been killed off, aside from the few who wanted to switch up characters. Anyways, back to my actual topic, I was wondering if any fellow GM’s out there are using their Ipad (or other tablet) to keep track of your game. I almost solely use mine as it gives me access to DDinsider along with an app or 2 I use for the other pieces of our games. What about you, fellow DM/GM’s (still not sure which is correct to use ) What do you use at your table of adventure!!!! FOR AWESOME!...(my group’s name is AoA, Adventurers of Awesome and you have now seen their battle cry)

So far the greatest utility I've found is just being able to have a gallery of cool pics to easily show players for key NPCs and locations (without having to print out hard copies beforehand).
There is a great custom soundboard that seems promising, though I've yet to populate it with any of my own mp3s.
I know I *could* use the tablet for much more, but so far it has still been easier to keep using paper notes. (This might change -- I just picked up an Asus Transformer last week that runs full Windows 8, so I should be able to run any program I want, not just apps -- GURPS Character Assistant and Fractal Mapper being the first two in mind).

There is a great custom soundboard that seems promising, though I've yet to populate it with any of my own mp3s. I have been using a laptop for these two things for quite awhile now. Previously, my campaign was run through notes and files in Google Drive. This made it easy for me to work on my game no matter where I was. This has worked really well for the past several years. I don't have time for a lot of prep, so often I'll throw together a few stats for things/people that might get fought, and then just have a bunch of inspiration images. Our game is very much a sandbox so planning out a plot is often useless and frustrating for me.

What about you, fellow DM/GM’s (still not sure which is correct to use ) What do you use at your table of adventure!!!! GM is the more appropriate universal term. DM is typically used solely for D&D. But it's all semantics and everyone knows what you're saying. It's like when a book uses "she" as the universal pronoun instead of he. It's not really breaking the glass ceiling, but the author feels good about themselves for sticking it to "the man". Although I think World of Darkness players are the most uptight about using the term "Storyteller" for their referee, which is actually a terrible word to use because everyone involved is telling a story. But I'm a WoD hater so wtf do I know. There's nothing wrong with not killing players. As some games say the GM "should be a fan of the players". It's all about making up a story. That being said killing a PC in 4e is very hard even if you try. I made a PC once in 4e that for concept reason wore no armor and was a defender role. He never even got dropped. As far as tech goes I don't even use when I play. Even if in my G+ games I print out my Character sheet so I don't have to have several windows open. When I run games I have a few pages of notes, but mainly don't run high prep games and most things are done on the fly so looking stuff up isn't a necessity.

wow wow WOW!!! thanks all for the responses . I use a an app called DM Minion made by Goathead Software. It is still a little clitchy when using the note function, but it allows you to import monsters and players so that your inititive and all stats are right there for you to use. Along with that it allows for you to add conditions and any other things that need to be tracked during your encounters. So far our story has been mostly driven by where I want the players to go. Most of my group are inexperienced rollplayers and I have to continue feeding information which drives the party to head in whichever direction I want. They are each getting better and better though, so I am excited for that moment where I have everything planned to go one way and they flip my world upside down....It is coming, I can feel it lol.

I still only use DMDJ on my ipad. Or i open a rpg book from time to time, though i still prefer an actual book at the table.

I finally gave in to gaming peer pressure and checked out MS OneNote. I've started using it to compile my gaming notes and while I haven't yet used it in-game, I can definitely see the potential for awesomeness there.

I use Evernote, Pintrest and Google Drive for my games. I drop pictures on a shared 'whiteboard' during hangouts to show all the cool pics I have found.
We're also trying out having one of the players share their screen to get it in the hangout recording, but I'm not sure how well it's working.

My favorite at the table bit of tech right now is a sound board app. No not with farts and crickets on it, but with sound bytes that relate to the game. Spells, attacks, backing tracks and such. It's really handy and adds a bit of interesting flavor. The only problem with it is now I need another tablet to keep pdf's on for reference purposes. Cheers, JiB

As the resident gnome bard I keep my soundboard on my phone. Perfect for that face melter lute solo, or playing this song every time a fight drags on too long
