Some new bits, posted on Enworld.org frontpage
Classes in the PHB are Fighter, Rogue, Cleric, and Wizard], the Monk, Ranger, Paladin, Barbarian, Bard, Sorcerer, Warlock, and Druid.
Races are Human, Elf, Dwarf, Halfling, Half-Orc, Half-Elf, Gnome, Tiefling, and Dragonborn. Plus Drow as a subset of Elves - there are at least two rubraces per race.
WotC has only 15 people working on D&D, and only half of those on the actual RPG (as opposed to other brand related stuff).
The DMG contains class building guidelines. "The DMG also has a lot of utilities in it, like for dungeon creation, adventure creation, creating monsters, creating spells, even if you wanted to create a character class. It's not quite the point-buy system from 2nd Edition, but it does say things like "Well if you want to create a class for your campaign then here's a good way to approach it."
I'd like to formally welcome Gnomes back from their 4e banishment to the Monster Manual. (I'm a monster, rawrrrr)
Also the Tyranny of Dragons adventure books are hardback, despite some distributors describing them as softcover.

The class inclusion certainly makes me happy, no more splitting them up just to make a buck.
I'm going to restrain from bitching about Tieflings and Dragonborn because just like the classes, I'd rather them include options rather than sell a whole new book for stuff they left out. The 4E guys are going to miss the Warforged being in the main book though.
Signs are pointing positively for me liking this new edition. Paizo just might have a fight on their hands.

For those with long memories the Warlock sounds very similar to the Savant class that was promised, but never appeared, in 1e. A nice twist on casters - have to agree the iconic is a bit rubbish (what is that orange blob in his left hand?) Aaron

Love the inclusion of unpredictable magic. Very Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay or Dark Heresy Psyker. Makes warlocks feel more like an X factor that could be good...could be bad.

Not to mention that the Caster Supremacy issue is nicely mitigated by risk. That's why I like Shadowrun's magic so much.

I'm excited for anything that eases the GM load, but it better not be "practically necessary."

From Enworld 12 Things We Know About Morningstar That's not its official name. The launch date has not yet been decided, but will be announced soon. It's the official digital tools companion to D&D 5th Edition. It's a companion for face-to-face play. It includes character generation, adventure management, and rule lookups. While it can be used alongside a virtual game table, Morningstar doesn't provide an integrated virtual table experience. PC will be supported at launch via web browser. iOS and Android apps will come later, Windows phone and tablets "hopefully" in the future. Codename: Morningstar is demoing at Origins right now, and will be at Gen Con in August. It includes official D&D adventures in some format, at the same time as their print launch. Custom maps, monsters, traps etc will be available to create and share with other players. Morningstar has been in development since December 2013, and playtesting since February, including closed playtests at WotC. Offline play and character creation will be possible.
