Recurring themes for all of your characters..?

This is a question about falling into ruts, even if you like where they take you.
Question: Do you find common themes or habits in your characters, no matter who you are playing?
I ask because I know I have a common play style in any game I'm a part of and I've heard Stork say that he almost always winds up playing the same type of character, when he plays (a Half-elven Ranger, I believe..?). Does that one player of yours always play a Thief, even when he's not? [DC] Does she always play a flirt in any game session or setting? [HM] Do you always play a martyr or have a code of honor in any situation? [MB] Does every game boil-down to gold? Do you find that you (or any of your players) have a habitual tendency to gravitate to a recurring theme? Bonus points if you know why this is.
My characters always have a long-range goal of 'a piece of real estate'. If I play a Warrior in a fantasy setting, I look forward to my keep or castle. I even look over ruins that the party raids to evaluate if they are worth re-building. If I play a Rogue in a space setting, I begin to imagine an 'underground' warehouse or chop-shop for all of my stolen loot or ships. If I play a Detective in a mystery setting, I look forward to owning my own agency or nightclub and when I play a Survivor in an apocalyptic setting, I try to establish my own city, fortress or, at least, a brewery. This happens to me in every game I play. Even if I start with something of substance, I have to improve upon it. In a dystopian setting, I started the game owning a large factory which earned me an established income from the character creation process. Within two or three game sessions, I was trying to establish trade routes and warehouses for future expansion, even though it had nothing to do with the campaign setting. I always look forward to gaining more land/real estate/bases.
I'm certain this is my own inner feelings of equating possessions as success. "Everyone should want to be rich and rich people own things so I must acquire big stuff. Big stuff needs big closets and big closets require a building." Stuff validates me as successfully leveling in life.
...or maybe I just like drawing maps.
Do you have habits that you can identify in any of your characters?
Why do you think that is?
