Might be a new game, new setting/splat book, new edition, etc.
For me, it's this:
About 4 years ago, Fred Hicks (of FateCore fame) made a quiet announcement on his blog that evil hat was working on a new edition of the gumshoe system that was stripping it down to nuts and bolts and then rebuilding it in a new way - this gumshoe/fate monster would then be the basis for a couple new books from evil hat.
He goes on to announce that one of the first titles would be "BubbleGumshoe." A game focused around the idea of teen detectives and towns that function like living characters - drawing primary inspiration from Nancy Drew and Veronica Mars. Those who know me very well know those are two of my favorite things.
I began to email Fred in anticipation about every 4 months because he stopped talking about it. At first, he just kept saying "there's something huge on the horizon." Turned out to be FateCore kickstarter. Cool. Not what I wanted. I continued to pester the poor bastard. He told me they had a long way yo go still on the stretch goals from the kickstarter. Of course, when those were released, I emailed again looking for news. Finally, after several years, he told me it was back in focus and being beta tested.
My group's already know, the second this book drops, I am running nothing but it for quite a long time (I'm not sure if they are enthused about that, but tough.) also, when it's finally out, I owe Fred Hicks something really nice for bothering him regularly for almost half a decade.

I'm super curious about 5e. I desperately want to recapture the excitement of when we found 2e revised. I might be too old and jaded, though.

5E. Unrepentantly.
I feel like now would be the time that a new edition should have proceeded after 3E. Enough innovations and trends have changed since 3E that new additions and new concepts would be welcome. I'm interested in finding if they kept the parts that excited me in the playtest, and just how much the finished edition catered towards the vocal minority. I feel like the next time I GM'd pathfinder, I would want to tack on some new house rules from Dragon Age, 5E, Savage Worlds and Fate Accelerated. I think that's a sign of me getting tired of a system and my opinion being that it is no longer "modern". I didn't say it was bad, its just outside behind the ball on "fun" new bits and pieces. Who knows, after the "new" wears off, I can see myself slipping relaxingly back into Pathfinder for my "D&D" fixes
Thing is, I'll probably take a month's time away from posts in other forums(not HJ, you're all actually sane compared to other forums) because its going to be nothing but yelling, over-critical, under-critical, apologetic, crap from people that would never play D&D in the first place so probably have no business giving their 2 cents, crap from people that would love 5E regardless of what was put out so probably have no business giving their 2 cents, and general sock puppetry in general.

I'm interested in 5E because I want to see how it affects gaming in general.

Yep 5e - I will comment on it when I get it because I will be playing it . . . call me a traditionalist but there's always got to be a D&D somewhere because I unashamedly like the fluff of the D&D milieu Aaron Sent from my Surface 2 using Tapatalk

I guess 5e, since the basic rules will be free. I'm sure someone in my group will want to try it. I bought that beta rules adventure "ghosts of.." whatever last year but still haven't even opened it.

Anything for Shadowrun 5 that adds all the complexity of the magic system from previous editions back in. They've already released the techy splat, so I'm hoping it's soon.

Definitely 5e. Preordered the core books and the starter set, and planning to sign up for Morningstar beta. Just 4 more days until character creation rules are released online.
