Fuck. Yea.
I don't know how our resident Aussies feel about this, but that trailer has not only blown away my reservations, but has made me more excited for a movie than I have been in years and years and years. Makes me want to revisit my SW Mad Max world.
I know its not been news, but just in case people didn't know: George Miller is one part(and the only one alive) of the original duo that wrote the Mad Max movies, and he directed on all of them for the most part. It looks like he's rejected doing the whole thing blue screen for having real life stunt work, real dust and sand, and a real "feel" to it. Its a reboot, according to Miller, which changes previous reports that it takes place between 1 and 2.

I can't even explain how excited I am for this movie. I was successful in staying away from anything related to it before this trailer and now I'm going to do my best to steer clear (HA!) of everything else until the movie is actually out...
...and can we get a what-what for cyborg, butch Charlize Theron?

I'm with you on that. Now that I've had my apprehensions cured by the trailer, I will not be watching anything else about the movie till I am sitting in a theater

Funny. I was excited about this movie until I saw the trailer. Another movie about explosions. Great if you're into Michael Bay flicks, but I find them boring as hell. Oh I just threw up in my mouth a little...

I'm actually on the fence....does it seem to any one else like a remake of the Road Warrior, with better visual. More like a reboot than a new movie?
Not that remakes are a bad thing.....until they try to remake Casablanca.......

I would actually find a "Mad Max" movie -not- about explosions disappointing.

Oh I just threw up in my mouth a little... To be fair Mad Max helped set the trend by being far older - Micheal Bay is the one paying homage to Miller and numerous other directors/producers before him. It'll be interesting to are 'what new' is bought to this Mad Max installment, as each of the original trilogy had marked tonal differences between them. Especially between 1 and 2. Aaron

Yeah it kind of seems like Road Warrior to me with a dash deathproof as I believe the whole movie is one big chase scene. And remakes are fine they've been doing it since the beginning, for some reason nowadays we actually wait a decade there use to be remakes every few years.

I would actually find a "Mad Max" movie -not- about explosions disappointing. lol. I'm not saying a Mad Max flick shouldn't have explosions, but I'm pretty sure that trailer had more explosions than all three Mad Max movies together. The trailer had no premise. Shit blew up. Come see this movie because explosions. I imagine there is a story, but I have no clue what it is. So I'm not excited about nor am I willing to shell out $10 a ticket for a fireworks display. Aaron Other people have used explosions but Bay is so over the top his name is now synonymous with ridiculous. Although I look forward to Bay's remake of Miller's Happy Feet. I do hope that this flick tries to set it self apart like the other Max flicks did.

The trailer had no premise. Shit blew up. Come see this movie because explosions. I also wish there was more about the movie's story. There seems to be something going on with those women dressed like oracles, but I can only guess at what it might be.

Not really seeing the counter point here...
Its Mad Max, not Shawshank Redemption part 2. Ok, sure Thunderdome toyed with allegory, but in the end that movie was ugly people, fights, blood, pig shit and a promise of a kick ass chase scene. The Road Warrior was practically all chase, rape, and ugly. What did they show in this trailer? Ugly people, brutal death, gas fueled automobile combat, and action. Expecting more from Mad Max is kind of like expecting the new ACDC album to be all super technical guitar ballads about epic life lessons and subtle social commentary.
Thunderdome got a lot of flack for "Spielberging it up". So it doesn't surprise me that Miller is pushing for a more Road Warrior feel to the first trailer.
I think the trailer showed a shit ton more than just "explosions".
We see Max getting tattoo'd with his vitals so they can probably file him away in some pit until they need him to breed, or they need blood transfusions. He's spare parts. We see greek-esque oracle virgins. What can be more terrifying to that kind of character than the sea of nightmare fuel that the Australian Outback of Mad Max's world. Literally everything that makes them live oracle virgins is at risk. We see them take Charlize Theron, shave her head, make her tough looking as hell, and she's kicking ass. If this was michael bay she would be in a bikini riding a motorcycle like it was a eurotrash playboy. The most important thing is that Miller has shown he didn't make some PG-13, safe for hollywood movie for the whole family(and their wallets). Its exactly what he said a sequel to Road Warrior should be, after 2 hours in the theater you remember you haven't taken a breath. What more could you ever expect from Mad Max?
Frankly if the trailer was anything aside from what they showed here, I would personally feel they were trying to achieve something that wasn't "Mad Max".

Another salient point (did I read it here? somewhere else?) to mention is that I believe this is the Comic-Con trailer -- the expectation being that that demographic wants to know that a Mad Max movie is not boring, neutered, etc.
Presumably the trailer for more mainstream consumption will have a little less "blow shit up," and a little more "this is what the movie is about"?
