After listening to several episodes of Happy Jack's, I picked up Savage Worlds. It seems like a great way to get people started in RPGs with it's "Duplo" nature. I used to use a fast and dirty AD&D with handrail house rules. I even got a bunch of people interested by bringing Munchkin to work for the "wait" part of "hurry up and wait." Even talking about movies and playing "if I was that character, I'd..." The Walking Dead has been a big one last couple of years. I've used it to introduce RPGs and Self Reliance/Prepping concepts.
How do you bring new people in? What has worked and what hasn't? What was a disaster? HOW can Phil be saved???
Trivia: did you know that the game Outdoor Survival (Avalon Hill, 1972) was in the lineage of D&D?
