If I were a normal in a world where dickheads all started getting superpowers and started lording it over the rest of us, I might invest in a sniper rifle.
(I am reminded of what Kincade told Harry Dresden about how he'd deal with rubbing out a wizard.)

Ah, but then you may be perceived as a "dickhead with a sniper rifle, lording it over the rest of us"

Sniper rifles and remotely-detonated explosives. Oh, and take the Batman route and thoroughly research all supers for their weaknesses, then ensure you always have them to hand.

For 'low powered' supers it shouldn't take much research to know a bullet through the noggin is kryptonite...
Anyhow, that's a storyline I would thread in- a norm serial killing supers from a block (or more) away, with rifles and car bombs.

I really enjoyed this show. And I will happily listen to you folks recite con stories for three hours at a time should you care to do a repeat performance sometime.

The only reason Batman can do that is that society hasn't crumbled. There's media from all the super powered encounters. In Steelheart, the villains take great pains to cover up their weaknesses, up to and including killing anyone who ever saw them get hurt.

Thanks for reading my not so horrible horror story guys! As for the Major, aside from his obsession with OSR products, he is not that all unusual and is called the Major because he happens to be one in the U.S. Army. After 25 years of being all over in the Military he is finally stationed in MD which means he can shoot up and GM sometimes. However, as a player he reminds me of the story from this episode of all the experienced GMs being merciless to a new GM...

I think I'm going to have to look into this book, thanks tyler ! We read it and talked about it last year on Your Book Is Why Daddy Drinks. It was an average book that had its issues, but the setting was a great idea. I'm hoping Sanderson does more with it and improves it.

He already has. There is a short story, Mytosis, and a new novel just came out, Fire... something...

The new book is Firefight and continues in a similar vein as Steelheart, definitely a fun read though. Mitosis I'd happily skip though, wasn't enough there to justify buying it in any format other than ebook.

I think I got the short story as a free audio book from Audible. Wasn't aware of Firefight, though.

Stork, i have to say. Malmö is so far down in the southern end of Sweden that it's practically in Denmark. But other then that i have to agree about the oranges.

I think I got the short story as a free audio book from Audible. Wasn't aware of Firefight, though. A great street level superpowers read is Violent Century, by Lavie Tidhar. I do have a sneaking suspicion he played a few games of Godlike though, having since bought and read that. The writing style is very literary though. (Well I call it literary because I like it. You may differ and call it impenetrable.)
