Regarding the Super spouses game:
My thoughts are that instead of having spouses of Supers, where the spouses have no power (which could be frustrating or a bait-and-switch for players who want to play a Supers game), I like the idea of couples where both are super heroes, but you know, because of kids and such, one person in the couple has become the stay-at-home spouse, and the other is the "bread winner" by fighting in the wonder league (or whatever).
Now these stay-at-home Supers must step up, since their spouse has been captured (or worse, depending on how dark you want to go).
This could make for some interesting pre-gens (unless you want everyone to make their own characters). Pre-gens can include spouses that had either sub-par powers (that nevertheless could come in handy in the game), or maybe powers that just lent themselves better to being stay-at-home, e.g. someone who has the ability to modify sound waves (great for sleeping better or dealing with a very fussy baby), or the ability to physically nourish individuals (great for being a stay-at-home dad with a baby so that the mom doesn't have to breast-feed and can get back to her career as a super hero), or whatever.
In advertising the game, I wouldn't hide the fact that the players will be the spouses, as anyways no one knows what the game itself is about (the villain, why and how they captured the super heroes, etc.), so make it well known so that people interested in the theme get in and are happy to be there.
Also, given the diversity of the gaming community in general, don't make the pre-gens gender specific, unless it is necessary for the power. This way you have a Super hero and Spouse hero match that can be gender-swapped or non-traditional male-female quite easily by assigning the gender based on the player's preference.
