i want to know how you guys handle youthful characters? whether they physically are younger on a cosmetic level, simply have s lessened level of mental or emotional maturity or are actually younger than their teamates?
how would you handle
A) the 10-12 year old character who actually is 10-12?
B) the nonhuman long lived character who is their species equivalent to 10-12 years?
C) the 26 year old human adult (or racial equivalent) who cosmetically looks like a 10-12 year old due to their small frame and delicate features?
D) the 26 year old who actually adopts habits common to a 10-12 year old?
E) the 26 year old human (or equivlaent) who combines C and D?
F) the naturally childlike species? (such as halflings)
i want to know both mechanical treatment and narrative treatment as well as whether or not you would take one, what hindrances you would recommend for each case, what personality traits and what campaign types?
this is because i am playing a character of Archetype E, who combines C and D. and while the character is already made and has been played, the character sparked my curiousity on how other people would handle it.

I would probably allow this in a GURPS game, seeing as the rules cover it fairly well (and you would pay dearly for it LOL).
Other games I'm not so sure - if it's just a child-like personality and is just RP - mechanically you are same as everyone else it may be OK.
If you wanted to play a child in almost any other game I'd probably just disallow it. Id say it usually becomes a questions of - "why the fuck is a damn kid here in this seedy bar run by organised crime?"

Being "small" is not the same as being for all intents and purposes, a child. If you are going to say you look like a child, are the size of a child, and act like a child, but are actually 26...... I guess I'm just confused about what you want. There's a lot more to this than just being small. In Savage Worlds, you will also want probably a minor form of the the "Young" Hindrance (take full skill points), and the Outsider Hindrance (as everyone you meet will treat you like a child). Your character may also be delusional, have a big mouth, be curious, or some combination of those 3. Maybe a quirk "childish habits" might cover this bit as those others are a bit harsh if you're already Young and an Outsider.

i was thinking of a 26 year old girl who could cosmetically be mistaken for a 12 year old due to a combination of her delicate features and height of around the ballpark of 5 feet with a weight around the ballpark of around 95 pounds. essentially, a great amount of her cosmetic youth would be part of personal maintenance (she takes to a diet that staves off wrinkles and puts great effort into skincare) and due to her youthful habits (like reading graphic novels and collecting plushies), be mistaken for a child on the surface, but at the same time, she has a Vivid imagination, has an extreme curiousity, is extremely awkward to socialize with and has difficulty finding a romantic interest, essentially, based very loosely off Neptune from Hyperdimension Neptunia

So you should just take those things at the quirk level then, seeing as they cause no more than confusion and mild inconvenience in game terms - I would do Small Curious Quirk(collects plushies) Quirk(socially awkward) Quirk(childlike appearance)
If the character was really a child, the Young hindrance would probably suffice.
