SG, do you suffer from sleep apnea? I do. The lack of sleep really fucked with my head for a long time - depression, anger management issues, memory problems. Thank god for my CPAP. I think I probably do, but I don't know. I've done a lot of work on my sleep schedule and how I sleep and I have myself on a pretty good regimen now. I've slept really well for about 3 weeks straight. I basically take my meds(including my new crazy guy med which is helping a lot) which includes some melatonin around 945 and go to bed at 10. I relax by watching some videos on my phone then leave the earbuds in my ears but unplug them from the phone and put that away. I also use one of those travel neck pillows combined with this wedge shape that I created out of a bunch of regulat pillows to keep myself at a nice angle which keeps me from snoring so I assume its helping with the apnea. Combine that with this new job that I'm really liking, the fact that I'm starting to lose some weight and noticing some differences in how I move and clothes fit rather than looking at a number on a scale, and the new medication and I've been feeling really good lately. Its also helped that I had you guys behind me. Thanks ladies and gents.

Do you snore like a bear? Then you likely have apnea. I love my CPAP. Got it cheap on eBay.
If you do -- get a CPAP. Not only will it help you now - it will help you down the line. My grandmother's neurologist believes the reason she ended up with early onset dementia is because of her apnea.

If I angle myself when I sleep, so that I'm not lying flat, it goes away. As soon as this insurance kicks in I'll be looking into a sleep study.

I didn't do one. Too much damn money. My brother in law gave me his old CPAP, and when it wore out, I got one cheap off eBay.

Probably not keen on people self diagnosing. Normally I would agree. But at the time I had no insurance and was unable to stay awake... and apnea runs in my family. So it seemed a safe bet.

SirGuido I'm glad that things are starting to get better for you. Personally I have suffered from chronic depression since I was a child. <REALLY BAD IDEA> I used to self-medicate with alcohol </REALLY BAD IDEA> which turned into alcoholism over about 12 years. Now I've been alternatingly sober and dry for a little over 7 years. I know what it's like to feel at the bottom. I can only reiterate what others have already said. Exercise, sunlight, therapy, and meds are all very important. If you can't get out to get sunlight, take a vitamin D supplement. In general add a B-Complex supplement as well. All of the B vitamins are important in energy production and processing of certain types of food. Speaking of food, eating healthy, balanced meals on a schedule will help to stabilize your metabolism and maintain a healthy day/night cycle. PM me if you ever just want to talk.

If you can't get out to get sunlight, take a vitamin D supplement. +1 to that. There is a huge amount of correlation between vitamin D deficiency and health and mood. I have a friend who's been going through depression at various levels and has found that this helps him (we can't say if it's Vit D or psychological, but hey) If you start looking into this, just sun bathing alone usually isn't sufficient for most modern people, and can be complex to time (you have to factor sun's height, time of year, latitude, etc.). I found out I had a Vit D deficiency last year and tried to sun "correctly" these last 12 months, and have been outdoors more this summer than any other in recent memory. And I just did my yearly physical and found I'm still deficient. And I live in LA!
