OK, I have Deluxe in hand and I totally see what everyone sees in this game!!! The rulesset leaves a ton of leeway, but seems to cover all of the bases... I hope my 4e group doesn't mind taking a few sidetreks! My experience with SW is that once people play it, they love it. JiB

It is a great system, though I just emailed the podcasters about some wonderfully odd quirks the game has when you've played enough games with it. You'll probably hear about it on the show in one to two years. But yeah, one of the greatest strengths of the system is its sheer flexibility. Don't like a rule? Don't use it! Need a new rule? Make it up, that's cool! Forgot a rule? Whatever! Here, have a benny, what you did was awesome anyway Clint Black, one of the guys who worked on the rule set for the game is on record pretty much saying, if you're having fun while playing the game, you're doing it right.

I want to read and reread the book over and over, but there's just no NEED!!! It's all clear and concise and yet ambiguous enough to be completely flexible...
I'm used to old school D&D, I LOVE Moldvay Basic!!!!! The rigid complexity of 4e drives me NUTS!!
It's mind blowing that I can really do just about anything from a charater creation perspective and just skin it with what ever description I want... I'm looking at doing some Warhammer 40K aliens and all I have to do is find a similar power and skin it with description; easy peasy!
I just received Weird War II in the mail today. Thumbing thru I was starting to worry that they forgot to include the Axis forces, but they were segregated to the back of the book in the GM section.

Gads I wish I could get out to the left coast and do a con with you guys!!!
Depending on the byout at work, I might be unemployed by the end of the summer and I have to take a trip down to Orlando at the end of may for my daughters high school graduation...

Turn that frown upside down. Treat your daughter with a one shot of Savage Worlds for her and all her nerdy friends! I'm assuming she has nerdy friends. Nerdy is trendy now, right?
Please validate me, society. Please validate me. I need your validation.

That's not a bad idea!!! Her and her boyfriend both like new Doctor Who, so there is a chance...
My older daughter graduated last year and she was running a play-by-post Sailor Moon game for a while, so she'd be more likely to play.

Actually, given that--I've seen a couple conversions for Savage Worlds hanging around for doing a Doctor Who/Torchwood/UNIT game. Honestly, given the pulpiness of the system, Torchwood would actually be a spectacularly good fit for a Savage Worlds thing.

Don't tell him the plan we want him off his guard. JiB LOL. I just saw this. Honestly I don't hate Savage Worlds. Well, not with the all consuming, soul burning, Surtur rising at Ragnarok to end the world kind of hate. I think it was just a combination of having SW be over-hyped and finding other systems out there that do similar things. When JiB and I finally do meet at a con, it'll be a Battle of the Borgs. Who will assimilate whom? Cosmic Patrol or Savage Worlds?

Question: What's the difference between Deluxe and Deluxe Explorer's Edition? We've fixed a few typos, applied the errata, and changed the format. That's it. There's no difference in content. If it's in SWD, it's in SWD:EX. Savage Worlds Deluxe is a full-size (8.5" x 11") hardback. All the Explorer's Edition books, including Savage Worlds Deluxe: Explorer's Edition, are 6.5" x 9" softbacks. jpk (Semi-Secret Pinnacle Vice President)

The only thing I DON'T like about the SWD (hardcover) book is the index - it's not very comprehensive. It would be super cool to get a comprehensive Index that covers all of the currently liscensed (sp?) books, but even just an indepth Index of the Deluxe book would be nice!
