Please note that when I say PbtA something, I simply mean find a version someone has made and play it, hence why I mention L5R and Star Wars because they were brought up as existing on these boards.

That is also fair, but also dangerous. I say this because I long for a PbtA 7Th Sea, but every version i have seen is terribly written.

"But writing a PbtA hack is the easiest thing since sliced bread, as everyone is doing it."
Said by no one who has actually tried to write a PbtA hack.

That's why I was more than happy to shell out for the Masks kicker.

Yeah. That had many good things going for it. It was being playtested bi-weekly for a couple of years, as well as being playtested at so many conventions across the country.
The group involved all worked on other PbtA games, like Cartel, Epilyon, and other stuff. Plus the group involved have done some great writing and very successful kickstarters before, like Last Days of AngleKite.

He speaks nothing other than the truth, sir. If you wish to make it a point of honour, I'll stand as his second. Why thank you, sir. Methinks that it should be swords at noon for the glare of the sun should give us a hearty advantage . . . Aaron I challenge you to a duel sir! Accepted. Weapons? Compliments. A most excellent choice wise sir. I see you have dueled before!

Personally I think that Savage It, Fate it, and PbtA it are all perfectly viable options, depending entirely on what sort of flavoring one wants with the game. JiB I'm not against the idea of it, I just come from a place, where I now know how difficult it is to hack PbtA. Writing good moves is hard. Holy f'ing yes!!! I'm currently working on a PbtA hack for NaGaDeMon and writing moves that aren't just restatements of moves from other games is proving to be a total pain in the arse. Hats off to the guys I know who've already done it. JiB

On a separate but similar topic, I would love a PbtA hack for Ghostbusters. I feel the techno babble and spirit babble would lend well to the open world nature of the system. Anyone down for tackling that bad boy?

JiB One huge piece of advice i've learned this weekend about PbtA hacks is that you shohld make sure you actually play AW before designing your own hack. It is supposed to help you see why everything works as it does. But if looking for feedback, I'd be glad to take a gander, i playtest a lot, and some times even have useful advice.

"But writing a PbtA hack is the easiest thing since sliced bread, as everyone is doing it." Said by no one who has actually tried to write a PbtA hack. That's why Savaging it is far more effective.
