My Tuesday group has had some people being unable to play recently so I am starting an alternative campaign (where we can play if someone is missing) and this is the plan:
Close future and the whole thing is taking place on an generation spaceship.
The plan is that the players are put in cryogenic sleep and when truble that the ship AI can't handle appear the group are woken.
BUT inspired by the pc game Soma the players aren't "alive" at all.
They are constructed by the memories of the original crue of the ship and put in temporary bodies.
This won't be obvious for the players but I plan to gradually give hints that when they are put in to "cryogenic sleep" they are in reality uploaded to the memory bank and their physical selves are killed by the AI and refurbished as material when needed.
The AI or the ship creators found that it is cheaper to just use "replicant" bodies and stored memories, no need for costly medical equipment.
This first session I will do some background work and flesh out the background of the pc's (something I plan on using later as clues).
I think I can make it work but wish me luck.
I will also use Simon Stålenhag's images as a inspiration of the world they left behind.

Probably my favorite scene in Prometheus is when David is working to keep himself entertained while en route to LV-223.
If the AI in your game was similarly bored, is it possible that it awakened the quasi-sentients in an effort to keep itself from going insane?

And one player wanted to get a discount trip...

So I had the fist session this week and it worked okay, we started out with the players learning the rules and making characters (5-10 min character creation!).
The session went on with the characters looking for a stow away while while we all made the layout of the ship.
It could have gone better but we all had fun so I count it as a success.
