My wife just powered through Legion before it gets expired on Hulu and I was super proud when she knew exactly who a certain person at the end of the season was in the X-Men lore.

Also, American Gods is steadily getting better. Diverting from the book seems to be helping it. Catching up on Season 2 of Lucifer which has me sitting down and writing up some stuff for Demon the Fallen. Also started Riverdale since they put it on Netflix. I totally didn't know this show existed but presently surprised how much I liked it. As far as movies, had a Prime subscription so watched 13 Sins and The Last Exorcism which I was surprised at how much I liked both. Also started A Haunting in Connecticut but then realized it was a Warren case and turned it off. I don't watch any of their Con Artist crap. Finally, went to see Alien Covenant. Good stuff.

Lucifer is a horrible translation of the comic, but a FANTASTIC show on it's own.
Riverdale was very surprisingly good.
Currently re-watching Criminal Minds.

On the recommendation of a friend, I finally started watching Silicon Valley on HBO.
Holy fuck] that's a funny show. These guys are the nerds that the Big Bang Theory wishes they could be.

We've started Twin Peaks, and I'm not that invested. It just makes me want to rewatch Fringe

I saw the new Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales last week. Loved it! It was probably the best since the first and second. It resolved a lot of hanging plots and could be a good ending for the franchise. I even teared up a bit at the end. It was sweet. It could also continue, or they could take a side-track and do young Jack Sparrow prequels. The guy they got to play young Jack was great, but the dubbed voice... that has GOT to GO! The films ranked by me in order: 1, 5, 2, 3, 4. Then again, I'll admit to being biased. I love that sort of "black powder fantasy" genre. Swashbuckling, fencing, flintlocks, and creepy magic. My bread and butter! Ergo, I like all of the PotC movies, even the 4th one, which even I agree is the weakest entry in the franchise but still love because of a love for the genre. I have a friend in one of my game groups who insists that my adoration of movies that everyone else finds tedious can only come from my being a fangirl of Johnny Depp. Not true. He's a nice looking guy, but I'm not particularly ga-ga over him. Sincerely, my appreciation for the films is strictly based on their content and my aforementioned affinity for that kind of story. And no, the lady doth not protest too much.

I'm honestly relieved to hear someone say something nice about it. I love the first movie, like the second movie, but the third and fourth were damaging to the overall idea of pirate movies. I would like to see Javier Bardem in just about anything he does. I'm excited that he is added to the rogues gallery for POTC.
I am curious about your feelings on TV shows like Black Sails or Crossbones!

I am curious about your feelings on TV shows like Black Sails or Crossbones! I liked Crossbones, but found John Malkovich to be an odd casting choice for Blackbeard. Black Sails is in my queue, but I haven't gotten around to watching it yet. I understand that it's a Treasure Island prequel. It's not just pirates for me, though. The era of the 17th an 18th centuries has long intrigued me. I also have Salem and Turn: Washington's Spies queued up. I love 3 Musketeers movies as well. Even historical dramas like The Madness of King George. If you have Netflix, I advise checking out Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrel. It is fantastic. And yes, I own the Northern Crown books and the second edition of Colonial Gothic (and want the newly-released 3rd edition).

Finished Lucifer and now moving onto Wire season 2. Never actually seen past season 1 but since it's on Amazon Prime, I figured why the hell not. Also finished Supergirl season 2. Wasn't impressed with the finale as it felt like it was close to a rehash of season 1 finale.
Saw Wonder Woman and loved it. Thought the Big Bad could have been a little better.

Black Sails is, as you said, a prequel to Treasure Island, but it's got the tone of a made-for-HBO (Starz in this case) series, with no shortage of wanton sex and violence. I found it to be EXCELLENT, but a bit short on humor and just a smidgeon too much in the Bad Things Happen to Good People category. Even though very few of the people are "good." Still, very enjoyable. Crossbones, I agree that Malkovich was an odd casting decision, but the unbalancing factor for me was the uneven writing. Many of the characters seem to find themselves at odds with things they'd decided or shown in the previous episode. It may have found its footing if it were given a second season, but alas.
