Ok so I am in Canada right now.
Why does all the food taste a little bit different? It's pretty good but it's just a little different....

Oh no! You've partaken of the food of the mysterious Neighbors to the North! They can lay claim to you now! You'll be stuck as the dancing fool of some fey Canadian princess!

......... I mean....... what have you had to eat? Just regular stuff for a camping trip. Hell we picked up some burgers at Walmart and they tasted nothing like burgers we have gotten from our local Walmart for example. But yeah. Regular food. Even the pizza is - different. Granted it could be all in my head but I didn't come in with a preconceived notion of the food. Figured it was the same.

Well I'm Canadian...... so in the Canadian fashion, we're sorry I'll admit the trips I've taken to the states your food seemed different to me. So it must be climatization.

Based on my UK palete it's the US food that always tastes different, all those additives and fructose syrup etc etc etc.

They probably clean their machines more often too. It may even be local, but probably not since its from Wally World. Also, everything tastes different while camping.

I hear if you are drained of blood and a Canadian feeds you maple syrup you turn into a Canadian. Stalking the countryside to drain the maple syrup from unsuspecting victims.

If I had to guess off the top of my head? Probably less added salt.
