I'm going to run an online game in about two weeks and wonder if anyone have suggestions for good alternatives to Roll20?
I've run three session in Roll20 so far. The two first went without a hitch, but we had a huge amount of technical difficulties last time. I'm not ready to divorce Roll20 yet, but I at least think it's time to see other (younger & hotter) people.
What I like about Roll20 is the inbuilt dice mechanic, and that you can see the other players's faces. Can I find that anywhere else?

Roll20 is the younger hotter sister in this regard.
However, you may care for Fantasy Grounds, which is on steam.

I use Discord for voice and Roll20 for the game board and dice side of things. It works really well, but you can't see their faces. I'm really hoping Discords new video feature will fix this problem.

We did try to run voice thru Discord but that didn't work either. I think it was a conection problem and not a Roll20 problem.

Woot, just dropped the Video patch for Discord today... I'd be interested to here how/if it works out for you and your group.

My biggest concern with Roll20 has been that it is built upon HTML5, and is thusly a resource hog of immense proportions. A virtual tabletop with equivalent or exceeding functionality that run natively ought to run circles around that. Netcode is tricky biz, of course, but I have this nagging suspiscion that I'd run a smoother tabletop with a Quake mod than Roll20, at least on my ol' machine from -06.

I have become a really big fan of Fantasy Grounds, and in fact hope to finally take it out for a spin sometime before Halloween. At least for GURPS, specifically, it just 'feels' like a much smoother experience when GMing.

We went with discord for audio and roll20 for images.
it worked well today but the player that had most problems last time wasn't playing.
We tried without video this time and I liked it.
