With the start of Faire (and Dress Rehearsal tomorrow), we're going to move up our Friday night show to 7pm Pacific Time.
This change will last through Faire (end of May), and may become permanent, if schedules work out correctly.
Please help us spread the word.

Hey! Always nice to have an email read on the show; you all make me feel so great. And yes Gina, I want to be your friend too, although Kimmy is right; I already am your friend. *sappy hug face*

Also, has anyone had any further thoughts on porting Stress and Outbursts to L5R 4e?

Also, has anyone had any further thoughts on porting Stress and Outbursts to L5R 4e? I could have sworn I posted this yesterday but I guess I didn't... My thought is that making a chunk of dice(skill or attribute) give strife will result in a LOT of strife being gained. I'm thinking that strife shouldn't necessarily be something that's gained when you are making a tea ceremony or hunting roll. So... how about giving strife whenever a die explodes, whenever a void point is used, and if you use the house rule of allowing 2 for 1 raises after the roll give one strife for each raise used this way. Then, instead of losing strife at the end of each scene you lose 2xVoid when you sleep and you can make a Void/Meditation(Strife Recovery) roll at TN 20 to lose your Void in strife +1 more for each 5 over the TN you roll. I see this as reflecting extra effort beyond the norm that you put into your actions, and then losing that strife when you center yourself.

...and if you use the house rule of allowing 2 for 1 raises after the roll... When did THIS become a thing? It's something I tried a while back. For some reason people were never calling raises on rolls. So I used this house rule to show them how effective they could be. For every 10 you beat the TN by you get the effect of a raise. I think it makes things more heroic and quite frankly, deadlier.

I might be starting an L5R game in a few months, so I'm getting reacquainted with the 4e ruleset. And yes, trying to port over Outbursts because that system solves a big problem with L5R that I've never seen solved!

gina is my spirit animal... character choice? Last! I also find it forces me to react creatively, and tend to enjoy that.

I used the raises after the roll approach after Sir Guido introduced it to me and it works really well, it means those occasional lucky rolls actually mean something rather than being wasted as in the default system.
