I just read that Microsoft is changing OneNote, and charging you for it. Time for a change? I'll toss out a recommendation for a favourite of mine: The end of OneNote

Are you sure? I clicked your link, and see it's to promote someone's personal work. They make the same argument about dropping Evernote they make for dropping Onenote. I haven't been able to Google up anything on Onenote getting a price increase, just that the versions in Office are going to be 'better'.
I'm sure the product is alright; I just get wary of trusting a blog that's a sales pitch, including linking back to previous blog posts the author wrote.

Microsoft are phasing out OneNote16, in favour of a version that’s more consistent with other iterations. What the new one loses includes: Create Outlook Tasks in your notes Pin your favorite commands to the Quick Access Toolbar Apply a template to pages to maintain a specific look or layout Record video Link your notes to webpages in Internet Explorer and Office files Store notebooks on your local hard drive instead of in the cloud, including backups Support for third-party COM add-ins Some of functions are often quotes as useful by GMs, for example, page templates. But for me the attraction of OneNote is its cross platform ability. So I never used any function that was exclusive to Windows.

I use EverNote but you have to pay if you want multi-device sharing. But I only use it on my desktop so that's not too big of an issue.

So I've also seen some articles about the change but from what I've read there are no indications that they're going to start charging for onenote only that they're stopping work on one of the two currently supported versions of it, unless I hear otherwise I'll stick with it and not panic into using someone's home-brewed low quality version.

I have never tried OneNote myself, so I actually didn't get all they talked about on that page. More of a "some of you might find this interesting" kind of a vibe. That being said, org-mode is really cool and might be of use even if you don't care about OneNote or are a happy OneNote user.
