Somehow this reminded me of those Nazis at the start of "Saving Private Ryan" who attempted to surrender but were speaking Czech, being that they were conscripted into the German Army from Czechoslovakia after it was conquered, and were shot anyway.
Were they culpable, or forced into complying through threat of death?

Actual Nazis (SS) or Wehrmacht? Whichever, they could have escaped and become partisans - kill ‘em all. That’s what I say.*
* never forget, but do forgive the repentant is actually what I say.

And in FFG's L5R, there aren't setbacks. Only strife.
And yes, once the size of the beta revisions book grew to 10+ pages, it became very difficult to comprehend anything, flipping back and forth.
The SW Empire has parallels with the Roman Republic/Empire. Possibly much stronger parallels.
And Hugo Boss would never have designed the Stormtrooper armor. Perish the thought.

thanks for reading my LARP letter, and after listening yes, many of those points could be taken for tabletop RPGs as well, CADave, because they are all RPGs. In the end even the LARP is a game with rules where people try to accomplish goals and achieve immersion.
Oh, one thing I forgot to add, by all that is holy pray for me this weekend as I run a LARP. It has been two years and is always an interesting experience. Picture being a tabletop GM and not having full control over your NPCs, for example.
