The commentary on the link might explain conflicting accounts: 1. When asked if he was OK with Cash doing a cover he was flattered 2. When he listened to the audio he thought it felt “weird, not bad, but ... wrong, alien” 3. When he saw the video “really then wasn’t MY song any more, and tears welling up, and and every one silent, and a lot of ’wow’ rewound it, watched it again, the song completely was goosebumps up the spine, an UNBELIEVABLY POWERFUL PIECE OF WORK, ... heartfelt, sincere and a beautiful piece of art”l He was honoured to have framed the end of his life even though sad that it was the last song he recorded.
Anybody hearing the middle comments out of context could conclude Reznor hated Cash’s version. But I think they only represent a non-commital response while he was doing something else, and before he was blown away by the video. (Which is amazing, but I like the Logan Trailer video too, I am convinced the first time I saw that at the cinema, it was the whole song.)

It made me sad to think he could be upset about something as wonderful/powerful as Cash's cover.

Dragon Warriors! YEAH! Girth matters? Thank the Gods. Dragon Warriors seems to have a small, but faithful following. For its time the mechanics were simple and elegant. Subtract the defence from the attack and roll under it. Most mechanical elements are consistent with this. In the mid eighties mechanical consistency was a rarity. I really like the unique mechanic used for the mystics and their magic. Start with a base number. Add the mystic's level and then subtract the spell level. If you roll under the result you can cast another spell. If you fail you're out of magic for the rest of the day. It makes an interesting alternative to vancian magic. The world of legend is interesting too. Dark fantasy hadn't really been explored much before DW came out. Trust the British to take us there. It may be interesting for some (Stu)to know that Dave Morris actually created legend for his GURPS group. Yeah, I ran a three year DW campaign for my group, culminating in them taking over Glissom after the Prince of Darkness adventure. Two of the characters managed to become infected with vampirism as well, so I have potentially an immortal vampire kingdom to bring back in future games.

My first time ever GMing was in DW. My brother played a Darkness Elementalist and seriously those Mofos are brutal.

Fat Tire doesn't taste like a dark beer Stu. What sort of pale beers have you been drinking? Oh snap, I forgot... Michelob Ultra.
