Davio could also buy his wife a new game, with a system no-other players run, so that she can run it with-out fear of being “helped” by more experienced GMs/players.
The new L5R starter set perhaps, or Blades in the Dark, or the Warren. Something that she can “own” the expertise on.

Per tappy's comment about how much of the advice around gaming is for GMs and not players... totally agree! They made this a "panel" at the last Gauntlet Con 2017, and it had some pretty solid advice. Some of it is specific to playing online games with RPGs, but still. It's listed as the " Being a Great Player" episode in the Gauntlet podcast feed, but the original recording is also on Youtube:

Also regarding random NPC names (another topic that came up), another cool resource for culture-specific names is this free PDF called the Story Games Names Project (I think by Jason Morningstar; same guy who did Fiasco; although I think lots of people contributed to this). The idea was if you wanted names specific to a real-world or fake-world culture or trope, you can pull from these and get some consistent-ish naming. studio101.ru/archive/studio101/other_materials/Story-Games_Names_Project.pdf

For stu - Stingray was a two-season TV series in '85 and '86. It was a Stephen J. Cannell production, of course (A-Team, Rockford Files, etc.) - Manimal was in 83 - a Glen Larson production (Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers, Knight Rider). ...and strangely enough, Stingray won an Emmy. For its opening credits.

I gotta send in an email about my wife that relates to Davio's email. I asked her for a game for my birthday many years ago and as a first time GM my wife knocked it out of the park with a custom Deadlands Noir setting where players play Hollywood silver screen movie stars with secret pasts. Kind of like a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, but with Vincent Price, Cary Grant, Grace Kelly, Humphrey Bogart, and Hedy Lamarr all going to Alfred Hitchcock's birthday party in the famously haunted Lalaurie House.

One of the things about those fey knockers, is that they are very rarely seen. And, like the Sith, there are always two. Cross them and be udderly busted.
