I have made a list of things to do before I die, or get a new girlfriends. One of the things on this list is to take part in a LARP, but i have no idea how to find a group or get into a game. I know there are some out there that have doen LARPing, so how do i go about finding a group and getting into a game?

Okay since nobody has replied to this I'll help you out. First off where do you live in this wide world? What genre do you want to LARP in?

Having only noticed this today, I apologize for not responding sooner. Whereabouts in the country are you? There are various nation-wide larps that offer different experiences. If you're interested in combat-heavy (not to be confused with "heavy combat") LARP, you can probably find a chapter of Amtgard near you. If you're in southern California, specifically, I know of a host of LARPs available. Good resources for finding some of these include: LARP Alliance and Live Effects, two pan-LARP organizations, each of which covers multiple different game. The people there can point you towards "combat LARPs," "theatre LARPs" (focusing more on roleplay and less on boffer combat), or "hybrid LARPs" (which offer more-or-less equal focus on each aspect). Time to pimp my own game: I've been involved with the Artorian Order of the Knights of Pendragon ( AOKP for short) for about five years. And hell, back before the acronym "LARP" was in common parlance, even Stork swung foam in AOKP.

oh god
But seriously.....I found this quote somewhere on the inter tubes, and don't remember where. If your the author I think of it as an Homage...
"In the hierarchy of geekery, LARPers being on the bottom of said totem pole and whatnot.
It's true, though, those who LARP do so in the shadows... never to be discovered for fear of being ousted from their Warcraft Guild or what have you... meanwhile we're all boppin' around Faire, characters firmly in place... really at Faire we're just LARPing without direction. We're aimless LARPers. It's kind of sad really. Hmm."
Im thinking its Myra Breen........

I think it's more that faire-folk are LARPers without rules. LARPers unbound!

Kurt, AOKP is CalvinBall! Come see me at Hunter's Moon sometime and we'll have some discussion. Shame I didn't see this earlier. As a SoCal larper, I've got SO MUCH FUN STUFF TO DO. Not only are there a bunch of games and groups, there's also a convention once a year in Costa Mesa, CA (WyrdCon!) . I believe there is also one on the east coast, Intercon, in Boston, MA for theatre-style only. It's all over the place, and where you can't find full on LARP, there's always SCA and Adrian Empire for your reenactment needs!
