An unfortunate misspelling in the diary at work has resulted in much laughter between myself another gamer I work with. It was supposed to read ' xyz wants to see GP to discuss bowel habits' unfortunately the person who left the message has scrawled an 'a' that resembles an 'o' and misspelt 'habits' with 2 'b's' thus ' bowel hobbits'.We've both already gone thru the obvious jokes about the one ring etc that only gaming geeks can properly appreciate. However, I now find myself (because of Happy Jack's commitment to being alignment 'dick' affecting me thru a process of slow osmosis and the other gamer at working daring me) committed to generating a 'bowel hobbit' for an upcoming Pathfinder campaign . . . So I need ideas . . . ie: pathfinder crunch to pull it off . . . the GM isn't aware of the how, where or why of this character concept and I need to flesh it out a bit first. Obviously the listeners of Happy Jacks are the ultimate repository of appropriate humour and game knowledge to get the job done. We (the other gamer at work and I) have already decided that a 'bowel hobbit' would be a natural Morris Dancer because of the 'clinkers' or 'dags' that would form in the hair of their lower legs and ankles. This would negate any stealth bonus . . . .

That's exactly what happened to me at work this morning . . . It sort of set the tone for the rest of the day :/ I can't help but think of what a bowel hobbit is and what they eat... I'd guess nuts, corn kernels, brownies and nutella spread

my honest and serious suggestion for this is look up the alternate racial traits for halflings in the advanced player's guide for pathfinder, there are a couple traits like "Low Blow" and "Underfoot" that might work for a Bowel Hobbit....or you could go with a gnome variant as well....considering i've had long suffering arguments for hours with a friend on what was a Hobbit, either a Gnome or a Halfling....

Definitely halflings. Both tend to be big fans of food and have skills that lend to being burglars/rogues. They are found of music and have hairy feet. Also both Halfling and Hobbit derive from the same linguistic ancestor. They are in fact the same creature, D&D just couldn't use Hobbit beyond the first edition because of legal reasons. Similar to why Cthulhu and his pals no longer show up in the monster manuals even though they were in I believe the Fiend Folio way back when.

Plus the bit in LOTR where Gandalf explains that he is referring to "they that the race of men have called halflings" - yes it was copyright reasons mainly though. Cthulhu appeared in the first printing of the first Deities and Demigods. I still have my old copy with Cthulhu and Stormbringer mythos . . . PS - in them those early days the local gaming groups I gamed with had adopted a universal convention from the Cthulhu mythos where saying Hastur was a d100 roll with a 5% chance of him hearing and attending in person (I remember at least 2 occasions in two separate campaigns where the player concerned rolled <05 . . . storking it big time)
