Back in the late 90s, I went to a con and picked up a copy of a Collectible Card RPG called Dragon Storm. Never actually played it, but it was just what you guys were talking about. You use the cards to build your character, and the GM uses the cards to determine plot locations and NPCs. Anyway, just looked it up, and apparently they made a second edition of it just last year. www.dragonstorm.com/

Back when I was still heavily involved in L5R and writing for a fan magazine pretty regularly I wrote an article about how you could use the L5R cards in roleplaying. Same could be done in something like Pathfinder using Magic cards. Go get your hands on some cards and separate them into piles. You'll have characters, items, spells, actions, etc. That's for GMing. When you're writing a scenario and you need one of those things... draw a card. On the Player side, use the cards for inspiration. Grab 10 cards at random and use SOMETHING from each card to create your character. It could be the art that inspires the character, flavor text, description, ability, etc.

Michigan is the Wolverine State. As far as I know, it's the only state that also belongs to the X-Men.
/currently lives in the U.P. //not an actual Yooper

For a RPG with your PC represented by a card deck try this... Untold www.untoldthegame.comI dig the setting and there are free downloadable materials. Please check it out. Have you played the game at all? I've looked into it in the past but never got around to giving it a try.

Nope, I have downloaded the primer and the other items and I dig them but I just never 'pull'd the trigger' to buy it.

Acthually, a true gamer would know that if you take two levelsh in Cleric you can get the Divine Pyromancer from the Player's Guide to Bummington, and then a level in War Wizard from Complete Simian, and then a feat from the Book of Erotic Fantasy and the Wyrmsdong Sceptre from More Loot Tables (Than You Can Handle), then you can totally cast a 20d6 fireball as a thwift action five times a day as long as the character has a foreign object lodged in hith rectum.
