Okay, so we just finished a story arc in my Dresden Files game, and we're about to start another. Let me see if I can sum up what this next bit will be:
In the *last* story, the PCs ended up trying to rescue some people trapped in cages, being held prisoner by a gang, to be used for nefarious (unknown) purposes.
During this episode, the building they were in caught fire. Eventually, the fire was consuming the whole place, and after several failed attempts, they couldn't get the last cage open. So one of the players decided, instead of a definite death by burning, he would give the young woman in the cage a shot at life, at least. He opened a portal to the Nevernever *inside her cage*, and pushed her through.
So this next adventure arc is going to be trying to find her. They didn't know anything about the other side in that particular area, so it's going to be quite a trek. For reasons I won't go into, they'll have a guide, of sorts, who can lead them around it bit, but it's still going to be quite the epic ride through the Nevernever.
HERE'S THE PART WHERE I NEED HELP: I need some suggestions/brainstorming ideas for things to happen to them in the Nevernever. I mean, I've got a couple ideas, but the sky is really the limit in there, and I want to come up with cool and interesting encounters/obstacles/interactions...
So any suggestions or ideas folks would have, of cool/weird/freaky things to encounter on their journey, would be much appreciated.

I might look to Gaiman's Neverwhere stories. From what little I remember, they were rife with factions, each with conflicting goals and desires. I read then a long time ago, so I don't remember a lot of the details of the stories.
I'm sorry this isn't more helpful, I know you were probably looking for something more specific.

The girl doesn't remember who she was in the real world, and has been adopted by a group of minor fey creatures as a Queen. Something that doesn't sit well with the real fey royalty as belief is power and this has in fact begun to effect their own power. As a result envoys from the different courts have been sent to kill this upstart or recruit her to enhance their own powers.
That might be more an over arching plot idea then you are looking for but just an idea.

Two questions: 1. Are you looking for ideas connected to the fey courts or something entirely novel? 2. What sort of place / region of the city were the gang using as their hideout?

Two questions: 1. Are you looking for ideas connected to the fey courts or something entirely novel? 2. What sort of place / region of the city were the gang using as their hideout? 1. In general, I figured just "Nevernever" stuff, not necessarily tied to the Courts. And actually, probably not tied to the Summer Court, because... well, if they were involved, it would be much simpler to get her back (long story). But honestly, I'll take any ideas I can get, so go nuts. 2. The location she went through was in a basement area of a converted cannery, on the northern waterline of San Francisco. But it will be over a week since she went through that the PCs start the hunt for her. So she might've ended up anywhere. And also, I'm hoping to give them a few interesting experiences on the *way* to where she is... so the sky is the limit!

I love the ideas so far, guys... please keep them coming!
And I've read Neverwhere a few times, so I do know the stuff from there... and you're right, Freyki, that's a good resource!

Throwing this out there while I think of more ideas but how about the Summer or Winter courts of the Southern Hemisphere. The courts in the books are described as having their power fluctuate in line with the seasons of the northern hemisphere so I've always wondered if there are counterpart courts whose powers wax and wane in line with the seasons of the south. Any of their territory in the nevernever would probably draw on more South American or African mythology and give a completely different feel to the Northern courts. Plus has the bonus of adding confusion as the PCs will probably take a while to realise they're not dealing with the courts they're used to.

I think it might be interesting if there is a time dilation in that area of the Nevernever. Let's say she's been there for a year (or ten) her time during this intervening week.
Due to her (I assume) naivete about the nature of the fey, she likely became indebted to someone(thing) over there fairly quickly. And is now working off her debt, and may be at least on the fence about if she would rather have burned to death in that cage.
So now your characters may need to bargain with a wyldfae to free her from her term of service. Which could also lead to more nevernever hijinks. (depending on how much you want to do over there).
Random (likely stolen borrowed) ideas 1) A severely messed up tooth fairy, either attacks and tries to force the minor consequence, lost a tooth. Then flees. (could be a problem if some bbeg gets ahold of that tooth). Or the tooth fairy has the tooth of some beast the aforementioned wyldfae wants, and would happily trade it for one tooth from every PC... I envision stringy hair, a vaguely drugged out look, and slightly rusty but well used pliers.
2) A group of vicious looking goblins (that mostly speak in rhyme with each other) are being driven from their swamp by really beautiful looking, but mean fae. Who to help? or just keep walking? Where will those goblins go => maybe to the real world?
3) The party comes across a young child. (s)he was kidnapped as a baby and a changling left in his(her) place. "Please take me home?" - Of course, if you've been living in the nevernever for a decade you're likely to pick up some interesting skills/abilities...
4) They enter into the realm of the 'Gentleman Caller' it looks like a victorian city, and there is a very tall and skinny individual with a liking for sharp objects. if they flee, how far will he follow them? Or perhaps they flee, and somehow release him from his demesne?

I love these ideas, guys!
Still putting together things for this Tuesday. Keep any other ideas coming! I wanna give them a whole slew of little weird adventures in the other world, during this arc.

I might have a good chance to do just that, Stork. I'm pretty sick today, and going to have to cancel gaming this week. So I'll have an extra week to prep. Maybe I'll watch those movies while lying on the couch trying not to puke. --Pukka Tukka

Oh and now that its out, check out Hyveminds submission in the Two Sides One Epic. pp 23 Lend a hand
He has a great take on the Fea realm, and a great way to get into it. Its a twist on the Goblin market. Great segue into more serious stuff.
