Just wanted to relate a great campaign I've been running since May this year. I kid not, all players are aged 9 to 15 (my kids and their friends from around the neighborhood). Two of mine are fans of the comic and are actually familiar with Traveller.
A little background: We started off when one of them actually asked me to run a campaign about mercenary characters in the Schlock Mercenary setting using the Mongoose Traveller rules (what an incredible idea!) Anyway, we played over the summer, doing what mercs do best & etc. Eventually I made them convert their characters over to Savage Worlds because I thought these young guys would dig the XP & leveling up instead of gaining contacts and allies as XP as in Traveller. Big success, that.
So this afternoon we played from 1pm to 6pm. Their mercenary transport ship was destroyed in a battle, they escaped and crash landed on a desert planet in an assault shuttle, they got the locals to tug their shuttle across the desert using farm animals (these big beasts of burden), they fought their way through a toll collection using their shuttle as a tank towed by farm animals, now they're angling on the local starport trying to get off this rock. Best game ever.
