OK. I'm a little confused. I've looked on the Pinnacle forums, but haven't found my answer yet.
I've run a few SW one-shots and just started Necessary Evil. I'm having a little problem wrapping my head around the heavy armor rules.
Am I right in think that RAW means that a light Duraweave Suit +1 (heavy armor) would automatically stop ANY attack from anything that wasn't a heavy weapon? That doesn't make sense to me and I can't seem to find clarification in the Deluxe edition, Supers Companion or Necessary Evil...
Thanks in advance for your help!

This is what I found recently and it spells it out really clearly, but I can see all my villains paying $500 for a duraweave suit that stops all battleaxes, thrown cars, super punches, etc....
[glow=red,2,300]Armor
This question seems to come up often, so a quick explanation of how Heavy Weapons and Armor interact with normal.
Heavy Armor allows you to ignore normal weapon damage, but not Heavy Weapon damage. Heavy Weapon is just a designator of what can affect Heavy Armor.
So the breakdown is...
Normal damage vs. normal armor does damage normally Heavy Weapon vs. normal armor does damage normally Normal damage vs. Heavy Armor does NO damage Heavy Weapon vs. Heavy Armor does damage normally [/glow]
That can't be right, can it?

That can't be right, can it? I believe you have it correct. The Deluxe book doesn't really get into heavy armor except for vehicles and gargantuan creatures. But I think the rules are still laid out fairly well. I'm assuming you are posting this because it seems over powered to you. If I'm incorrect then the rest of this reply probably won't help you. First, here's a page I stumbled upon that kinda backs some of what you wrote up. It was also aimed at stacking armor, but Clint's reply does appear to back you up. www.peginc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=34425&sid=57568b27e57fa79bfba54dad4ce15493My thoughts on the subject: 1: I believe Duraweave Armor does not cover the head. So unless the target is also sporting a tactical helmet, a called shot to the head or blast of some sort could avoid the Duraweave protection. 2: I have not played Necessary Evils but after a quick glance at the equipment list and enemy stats, it looks like there are a lot of heavy weapons available in the setting. Throw in the possibility of Hero Killer ammunition for any other gun and the +1 heavy armor stat doesn't look very impressive to me. The real virtue of Duraweave armor to me seems to be that it is concealable while at least protecting you from some random foe with a regular gun.

... paying $500 for a duraweave suit that stops all battleaxes, thrown cars, super punches, etc.... Disclaimer: Again, I have not played this setting or thoroughly read the NE book. As to stopping thrown cars I'd be tempted to treat it like a vehicle collision. In deluxe there is a mention that vehicles with heavy armor take half damage from collisions with unarmored vehicles. So given that NE says the damage of a thrown car is Str+10, cutting that in half still leaves a reasonable chance of doing damage. For super punches and battle axes: I see in several powers, built in or optional heavy weapon properties.

Thanks for all the help. Yes, you're assumption was correct - it does feel overpowered to me. After looking at Clint's response it seems like it would be effective to stack different armor types (heavy/normal).
You are correct about the heavy weapons and the the killer ammunition in the setting, but I guess it just gets down to the fact that I don't think heavy armor should be available on a personal scale unless it is a superpower (or perhaps for future space marines).
I'm going to look at house-ruling this I think.

Well, I'm writing this after our 3rd session in Necessary Evil using the RAW and I must say it does work fine. I'm glad I didn't mess with it. Thanks for the advice Gandalf.

As long as you're having fun you're doing it right.
