At our game last week, I made sure to have a list of each character's hindrances on the inside of my GM screen. Having this information right in front of me helped me remember to reward the players with fate chips when they deserved them. Looking back at our first three sessions, I probably missed several times when they should have been rewarded.

Not a bad idea, the only caveat I would put on it being that that's not the only time I give bennies.
Cheers,

I agree with JiB. I also award bennies when PCs take a huge risks and have amazing luck in the process. For example, a character with Shooting d6 is up against three bandits with pistols drawn. He decides to Intimidate the leader as his action, then draws his gun and shoot the pistols out of his hand in the same round. By the time he draws his pistol and fires he is Shooting with a -8 (-2 draw + -6 (-2 Shooting & -4 ranged disarm maneuver). He might pull it off and scare the bandits into clearing out; if not he's facing three bullets at close range.
It is risky, but stranger things have happened. If he succeeded, I'd toss him a benny.

If one of my PCs even decided to go for this, I'd be tempted to give them a benny just to try that pile of awesome.
(as a player I'd be hard pressed to try it.)

Upon further thought, I would also award a benny for epic failures! After all, we humans learn more from our failures than our successes. Plus, it helps cushion the blow.

I agree, the only caution I would add to that is you can end up in a situation where you're trading bennies with the player. IE they try something epic, fail, you give them a bennie, they spend that bennie to try again and succeed ... But if they try something epic and fail and eat it then helz to the yeah I'd give 'em a bennie. JiB

it's always nice to have a benny handy for that injury table. ::shudders::

I also give bennies when a player Aces four to five times in a row on a Trait check. Why? Because its frakin' amazing!
