I've never played Monsterhearts, so I'm a bit confused by this example. Is "Tyler" being run by the GM in this case? Anyway, I don't think a character can be a GMPC if all of the other players get to decide such major things about him/her, even if the GM is running that character. I actually had to go back and figure out what I was trying to show with that example. Whoops. Poor writing on my part. In the example I gave, Tyler is an NPC being run by the GM. My point was that in some styles of games, the GM doesn't know what's going on. Almost nothing is pre-planned by the GM beforehand, and they are finding things out right along with the players. In those styles of games, NPCs may suddenly and unexpectedly become very interesting characters that the GM wants to shine the spotlight on for a while. I brought that up as a counter to one of Stu's points against GMPCs. It was pointed out that it probably wouldn't be much fun for the GM to play as a PC because as GM, they already know all the "secrets" of the story they're involved in. I just wanted to point out that that's not always the case.

Traveler delivery - I opted for the CD version rather than books.
