Years ago I came across a site called The SCP Foundation. this is like Warehouse 13 where agents hunt down artifacts of significant importance or danger to the population. I this has been something i have wanted to incorporate into a game but never had the time / energy to devote to it as much as i would like to have... until now. man question i have is what would be an idea system to run this is, I thought about GURPS being a "catch all" system but the Character creation kinda shys me away from using it.. any advice would be enjoyed.

World of Darkness would work nicely. Appropriate atmosphere, and the system is pretty easy to pick up.

Depending on your tone for the game, I would use (shocker, I know) => Fate or Savage Worlds.

I love that site. It provided me some ideas for a warehouse 13 style game I ran for a competition once. It ended up with players trying to console "Divoice Barbie" about her loss so they could find out the information they needed to defeat the GI-Joes guarding the exit But I would second using World of Darkness.

Although I'm sure other systems would work fine, I don't think you should let character creation scare you away from GURPS. It's really not as bad as it looks, especially if you've ever used another point-buy system. Also, depending on which edition you're using, there might be character creator software; I can't remember whether my group's GURPS game is in 3rd or 4th ed, but we have software for it. Plus there's a whole GURPS forum on this very board with knowledgeable people who can offer advice to help you over any rough spots.

GURPS 4th as two character software products: GURPS Character Assistant is the "official" one, sold by Steve Jackson Games. GURPS Character Sheet is free. Both work fine.
Since I'm right in the middle of learning World of Darkness, that's also the first system I thought of.

I've read several of the articles in SCP in the past and they always made me think Lovecraftian. Perhaps Call of Cthulhu or Realms of Cthulhu in Savage Worlds? I'm basing this on my personal take of the stories, of course. It all depends if you want to work that Lovecraftian flavor or go for something different. (There are a few of the articles that are honestly funny.)

Since I'm right in the middle of learning World of Darkness, that's also the first system I thought of. I gotta go with Stu on this one. New World of Darkness sounds like it'd be perfect.

I know NWoD well enough to run it in that, seems like the popular choice for the idea.
I am going to sit down and really read the GURPS 4th book and try and make some characters up, ill keep the thread updated on developments.... probably gonna be NWoD

A little late to the party but as a Savage Worlds fanboy, I would also run this in nWoD.
