If you're wanting an already-fully-fleshed-out major fantasy city, check out Ptolus, City by the Spire by Monte Cook. I'd heard very good things about this, but I balked at the $60-for-a-pdf price tag. I was wrong to doubt. 800+ pages of unbelievably well-written, well-laid-out, GM-friendly content. Literally dozens of organizations, individuals, and religions all vying for power in the city. Descriptions of life in the city, adventuring in the city, and the unique feel of each city district. Even if you don't want to use it as written for 3.5 Edition D&D or Pathfinder (almost zero conversion needed), it's still stuffed with great ideas.

LOL. I don't know of any hippie game that happens all in a single location, @hosierrob. However I am not the King of Hippie games (as hard as that may be to believe), and there may very well be a game like that out there.

There's a couple actually, depending on how you define location. A Taste For Murder is about a murder mystery taking place in an English country home. Montsegur 1244 is about the last of the heretic cathars, holed up in their last remaining stronghold. Also, one of the players needs to burn on the stakes at the end. Obviously it's easy to argue that each of these locations is actually several different locations (different rooms in the manor, different spots in the castle), but then the same could be said about the office mentioned in the episode, I'm sure that could also be subdivided. Anyway, there is a definite sense of spatial restriction in both of those games, so I'd say they qualify.

I just listened to a large chunk of the episode on my commute, and I wanted to add in how I make scenes for a game.
I use Fate. In Fate every scene has aspects. A scene change is when those aspects change. Check out Chapter 9 of the Fate Core book (you can get it in PDF as PWYW from evilhat.com)
(Just a quick example of the top of my head, some of the aspects aren't very good) Example: Scene A Musty Library Quiet as a church-mouse Domain of The Librarian Scene B Creepy Graveyard Dark before Dawn Rolling Fog Are we being watched? What was that sound? Scene C Dawn breaks the fog Not so creepy in the light Deer in the distance Broken grave markers, disturbed ground.
This kinds of gets to both what Stork was saying 'lights down, lights up, new location' and what Rob was saying about how you don't need to change the geography to change the scene. I'll take these aspects and apply it to whatever game system I'm eventually going to use. It helps me keep it organized and it helps to keep the feel of a scene distinct though how I describe and react to the players and their actions.

I second Ptolus as a good buy. I would also recommend Magical Medieval Society: Western Europe as a personal inspiration for campaigns of mine with a nice city section in it to create your own.

Sir Guido. which section of Amishland do you frequent? My family and I just got back from Lancaster area in PA. We went to West Union, Ohio. Basically we just went to price out a good heavy duty solid wood dining table that would double as a gaming table, but we decided to turn it into a little weekend trip eating lots of delicious bad for us food and relaxing.

As someone who grew up around Lancaster, PA, I am truly sorry. Best Ice Cream ever is right outside of Quarryville, PA at Maplehoff Dairy. And when you have a 7 and 3 year old, Jellystone Park and Dutch Wonderland make it a fun vacation for the kids.

Ok, finally got around to listening and got to the Savage Worlds discussion on Trappings.
Hi, I'm gonna be that guy. I'm going to pull out the page number and tell you that you missed something. Page 105(108 of the PDF) of the Deluxe version, the trappings system is described and a set of them are shown. This is not the list of powers, this is the trappings and their affects mechanically and narratively to the game.
These lists describe various trappings such as sonic, cold, fire, etc. They give details on things like how fire will ignite flammable objects, or sonic will add a deafening affect to an attack. It describe how electrical based beneficial spells(like making an electrical field trapping for an armor power) can add Jolt to the spell, giving players a new chance to negate shaken status.
Also other settings add Trappings that are setting specific, I believe Hellfrost does. That "sameness" can be present in Savage Worlds, but there are tools built in to the core, vanilla rulebook that allow people to make their powers unique in the group.
