I'm not looking to join a group, just visiting to give a paper at an Academic conference from 11th September. I wondered if there's any Jackers around who can give me some local knowledge: best FLGS to buy some Fate dice, decent coffee, places to eat etc.

I'm not in Rochester, but a co-worker recently moved there. Unfortunately, she's not a gamer, so she couldn't help with a flgs, but she did have some restaurant suggestions. If you like Italian, there's a place called Bella Pasta on Ridge Road West. She says the prices are decent. Salina's in Village Gate is a great place for Mexican. Santa Bells on Empire Blvd has great food and a nice bar, she says the atmosphere is nice, too. If you're looking for a place on the river, Pier 54 (or Pier 45, she couldn't remember which) at Charlete Beach has a nice patio area and bar. She says if you go there you should walk down the pier to Abbotts for ice cream. She says it was her favorite way to spend an afternoon. After a quick search, I found 3 gaming stores in the area. I've posted links to their websites below. www.boldo.com/www.pairadicegamesllc.com/web/www.millenniumgames.com/news/listHope this helps!

Cheers. I'll check out those eateries. I'd googled and found Baldo's, which looks interesting, and Millennium, which seems all about the cards, but PairADice is new to me. Thanks. Oh one more thing, if any natives find this. Beer - your average American cat-water is of no interest to me, but I hear good things about your craft-breweries and your IPAs (can't think where from ... ) so what are the local brews I should try?

I'm not a beer connoisseur by any stretch. I mainly stick to Sam Adams, Blue Moon, Guinness Black, and Leinenkugel; none of which are local brews. Unfortunately, most of my friends drink swill like Coors, Budweiser, and Miller. You may have some better luck with responses to that question on the General Chat forums.
