You know, I just checked my pdf of the Deluxe book, and it says "Characters" get soak rolls.
But last night, I was reading the physical book, and I swear it said "Wild Cards" get soak rolls.
hrm....

I'm just going to go ahead and make all my enemies named character Wild Cards, just to be doubly sure.
Also, yes, I did watch Animaniacs. I also have a very soft spot in my heart for Tiny Toons.

Errata for SW:D Page 69 under Soak Rolls: Change “A Wild Card may spend a Benny to make a ‘Soak’ roll, which is a Vigor check.” to “A character may spend a Benny to make a ‘Soak’ roll, which is a Vigor check. So your right! The book is different

Wait, so that technically means anyone can make a soak roll, then, correct? Not just Wild Cards?

Correct, I looked it up on the forums and Clint Black confirmed. Makes sense..after all that is what the GM bennies should be for

I as gm would probably not spend a benny on a soak roll for an extra. I could but I doubt that I would. 2. It's already proven that Stu is in fact insane as he lets me be on the podcast ... ... 3. All of this is really just a fevered imagining going on in Stu's head and none of us really exist. (creepy) JiB

Well, as I said earlier, I haven't been rolling soaks for my extras anyway. But now that it's an option and I tend to have a pile of bennies leftover after games, I might just start doing soaks for extras if only just to annoy my players.

Yah, I haven't done it yet either..those little guys are suppose to go down quick after all. However, if the dramatic moment is right, I think it could be fun to have the "last man standing" manage to stay alive to warn the "boss"...ect One thing I like about SW is the fact I can either hold back benny usage or spend them depending on how the group is going and desired tension. Gives me some more control on the feel of the session.

Just my opinion but I think the game is at its best when the bennies are flying, and one of the things my old group would cheer about is when I had to burn a benny.
Cheers,

I've only used a benny on an extra to change their roll ( usually to make it lower! ). Example: My little extra makes an amazing roll that is going to one shot our awesome fighter. I decide as a GM that it isn't the way the story should really play out, so I drop a benny reroll and maybe he only ends up with a wound, or the whole attack misses....I mean after all I'm not trying to kill them, ( well most of the time I'm not ), I'm trying to facilitate a good story!

I would just nerf it as well if you don't want to one shot them since RAW says you keep the higher of the rolls when you use a benny. However if you need a place to use up a benny its as good as any.

JiB My problem is I don't use a GM screen, as I prefer to roll in front of the players. So instead of saying "Oh man, that sucks, I just jacked you up, lets retcon that". I just roll it into the benny economy. It also gives the players the added bonus of eating up one of my bennies so it is usually a win win. And it keeps any rules lawyers in check
