I hope these things are half as fun to listen to as they're to make. Okay show notes. Thanks to the hosts guitarspider, Houndin, and druggeddwarfJackercon is Nov 1-8. Main Topic which we skirt around and talk about at length is Adventure and Scenario Design. guitarspider's topic tired tropes malifer's topic Politics in games Really it doesn't seem like much, but it's our longest show yet! 1:32:19 I've Crunched it down to a 64k Mono Mp3 for your listening pleasure. I haven't listened to it yet, but I know there were a few stutters in connection, but I think they were minor. Enjoy. Episode 5 Mp3

I DREAD having to stat out things for combat. I'm good with world building and plot ideas, but the numbers always fuck my shit. I feel like a whiny child about it, but seriously I DON'T WANT TO DO IT!!
Example: Right now I'm having to stat up a werewolf and "plan" an interesting combat. This is especially highlighted because we have combat maybe every third session. I can run the fight when it's going and am okay at running the rules, I just don't ever want to actually build stats and tactics for the fight so I know how many hits it takes to end the encounter. I don't really have a solution except to drag my feet and do a shitty job at it last minute.
In a perfect world, there would be a monster generator that would spit them out at me when I click the type of monster I want. If anyone knows of such a thing for AD&D I would greatly appreciate knowing about it.
Houndin's Health Levels technique sounds like an interesting idea, but the math lady in my group always guesses at ACs and HP totals. So how do the details of health levels play out?
Maybe we should have an episode specifically talking about building combats.

The key to health levels is description. Heroes don't miss, but they might only deliver a glancing blow, or they might ring the monster's bell. it depends on how high they roll and how their damage roll comes out. I never mucked with the AC so you should be safe on that. But if I remember correctly, you're playing an old school game, where monsters had Hit Dice and opposed to Hit Points. So that should give you some lee-way in the guessing as well.
