Hello all,
Recently a friend offered to run a 1 shot Savage Worlds Firefly game. Long story short, it was a bait and switch, it was no Firefly game but an Aliens game. We had a blast and I wanted to return the favor. I plan on running a Traveller game that is in reality a Predator game. Any one have Mongoose comparable stats for Predator? Or other ideas for incorporating Predator into a Traveller game?
THANKS

A lot of the 2nd part of your question will depend on the specific setting/timeline you're doing. Is it Predators on modern Earth? You'll just want to look at the tech levels and keep them appropriate. The system is simple and deadly, so I think it would work well for a Predator game. If it's a Predator in the Traveller Universe, then you just need to stat the beast.
I only own the main book, but with all the sourcebooks available, I imagine there's an excellent template for a Predator creature out there. Otherwise, it wouldn't be too hard to build one yourself; physical stats higher than human, mental stats equivalent; access to higher tech gear. Keep in mind the skillset of a Predator. Skills at 2 or maybe 3 would be high enough (in a 2d6 system, a +1 or +2 is a big deal) for key skills.

Can't help with the stats or even Traveller, specifically, but I'd heartily recommend finding a soundbite of the Predator's signature "clicking" sound.
I ran a game in high school where players made soldier PCs for a special forces recovery squad for a one-shot. They reached the downed helicopter in the jungle but found no survivors, only blood. When they heard the Predator click (cassette tape, no less), they pretty much shit themselves in unison. It was priceless, and a totally rockin' game as they scrambled to survive and/or kill the damn thing.
Anyway, sounds like a fun game, I hope it goes well!

Remember, Mongoose also publishes Strontium Dog which has laser stats and futuristic armor, and big bad muties. It is fully compatable with the MGT core rules, and may get you where you need to go simply by re skinning some of the muties.

As a matter of fact Kainguru is the Guru (DYSWIDT?) of Strontium Dog round these parts. Perhaps if all three moons line up accordingly for Jackercon VIII we will once again visit his dark basement of even darker futuristic dreams (which is basically Maggie Thatcher riding a vacuum and Ronald Regan riding a T-Rex).
