I would say that their power requires shadows of a similar size to meld into. If he is melding into smaller shadows then that would require a shape change or size reduction. He also shouldn't be able to travel through shadows without teleportation as well. Super sorcery can provide all these things but they should have to be cast and not just inherent.
Marvel had a few superheroes that could shadow meld, such as Silhouette from the New warriors or Cloak. Extreme light that left no shadows could nullify their shadow based powers until they could get to appropriately sized shadows once again.
Also remember that invisibility and intangibility are both actions that require activation (intangibility is a spirit roll) and would count for multi action penalties. Utilize some of the other advice in this thread regarding the other senses, and remember that invisibility has a range based on how many points they bought it for. Predator was hard to see but not impossible. The invisible man left footprints and still had a scent.

Oooh, I just had a eureka moment and figured out how to challenge him. He took the "Hunted" Hindrance (something like that) and last game he attracted several V'Sori ships with his magic use. I can deploy a small group of Mandroid robots similar to the robots from At Worlds End. Light from the mouth, super human fighting, maybe a few electric bolts to try to capture him.
This will be fun.

Did he not specify who was hunting him? *queue maniacal GM laughter here* I wonder if he realizes what all this shadow magic really is? What forces lay within the shadow realm that may see it as an affront that he, a mortal, steps into their realm? What things lurk in the dark? What things may hunt him down, drawing near whenever he tries to claim the shadows as his own? If he is open to some role play possibilities this can make for some possibly interesting side action. Maybe not to take up an entire game session but as email asides or interludes while you wait for an entire party to show up. It may help him really flesh out his character, his powers, and his background to be less a "broken character that can't get hurt" and more of a character with some substance.

instead of having creatures of darkness after his life? why don't creatures of light pursue him instead?. we could evoke the tropes "Dark is Not Always Evil" and "Light is not Always Good". make a faction of the light the bad guys. Scarlet Crusade or similar Organizations that misuse the power of the light for evil or selfish purposes could work.

I do enjoy a good trope reversal though.

I do enjoy a good trope reversal though. trope reversals are always awesome. Anime is loaded with them. for example, it is common to make the small girl the party brick just to throw a wrench into the party makeup. all sorts of ways you can make a cute pint sized brick, such as kinetic energy manipulation and the melee attack power. at the same time, i think i made the Brawny Giant the Party Bookworm. of all people to be the bookworm, the biggest person in the party. though stuff like trope reversal has to be used in moderation before it becomes the new trope.

Did he not specify who was hunting him? He did actually, a V'Sori occult science officer akin to Nazi occult advisers. I was hesitant to allow it because, let's be honest, if he's trapped in the Cordon that's present in the Breakout storyline he's already half way to being captured. But it would allow for some wacky enemies to throw at them. When the Mandroids don't do well I'll probably start throwing some occult monsters at him like ghosts or minor fey. Of course the rest of the party is caught in the crossfire so I'm sure they'll have something to say about him attracting all this heat.

However, he is still reliant on being Invisible and Intangible even as shadow trapping powers and his explanation for it is that he becomes one with the shadows being cast by everything around him. Would you say that once they leave the protection of the shadows that their powers would not function due to the trapping? What about if someone flashes a big spotlight?. It takes a while to wrap your head around trappings. When it comes to supers, we tend to think of powers along the very narrow lines of a unifying theme. Spider-man... well does whatever a spider can (is that a lyric?!). Does this make him particularly susceptible to pesticides?! What about his spidey-sense? I mean, seriously, since when are spiders fucking clairvoyant!?! A big part of the fun as a player in a supers game is doing 'cool stuff'. If he wants invisibility or intangibility trapped by shadows... then help him get there. At the end of the day, does it really matter? He's spent the points. Maybe his shadow hper-dissipates into the either. I have a noob in a fantasy game who came up with the concept of an Elven Shadow Ranger. She took AB (Magic) trapped as Shadow and wanted to teleport. When she didn't meet the rank requirements, we agreed that she could get a similar effect with Burrow by becoming a shadow that seeps into the earth and then rises and reforms. As long as there is 'actual earth' not stone or paved streets we agreed she could do that.

Awesome thread.
Here's just a suggestion. When it comes to his Super Sorcery, give him the Limitation (-1 or -2) that the magic MUST be shadow magic. I'm running NE - Breakout and one of my players has Super Science with the Limitation (-1) that all of his inventions must have the LIGHT trapping. This makes the player think and he's very receptive to that. When he starts doing stuff that's outside the realm of a light trapping I simply ask him, "How is that a light trapping?" More than once he's said, "Oh yeah."
I would also think that a Power Negation hindrance of light would be appropriate, as would be a vulnerability to light attacks.
All of the suggestions up top are cool and appropriate.
