Thread title says most of it: I haven't really played any narrative-focused/hippie games before, and I've been thinking about grabbing one. In recent years, I've mostly played GURPS and L5R, with a smattering of WT.
Current front-runners are Fate or Apocalypse World. Can anyone help me decide between them, or recommend a different one?
I'm kind of leaning towards Fate. My impression is that it seems more flexible than Apocalypse World, though that impression could be waaaaaaaaay off, as I've never played either game. Also, I read about aspects, and they seem like a fun game mechanic.
I'm considering Apocalypse World because there are so many PbtA games these days.
Though maybe I should get something Gumshoe... My games tend to involve investigation.
Any thoughts?

I was going to suggest Fate. Then again, I drank the Kool-Aid a while back.

Honestly, I don't consider either Fate or Apocalypse world to be full-on hippy games; they're more like "hippie games lite" IMVHO, with a foot in the "trad game" camp. But that might make them good gateway games.
If you like them and want to go deeper into the experience, I'd recommend something like Fiasco or my new favorite, Fall of Magic.

Savage Worlds. it literally leaves the Narrative up to the Player and requires them to come up with their own descriptions. it is rules light, but can also be considered to be very lethal.

I played Night's Black Agents at GenCon this year and really enjoyed that. Ding ding ding! We have a winner! I LOVE Night's Black Agents. Robin Laws makes damn fine systems, but Ken Hite always finds ways to improve them. NBA can after ToC, so in my biased opinion it can only have distilled that Laws/Hite goodness even further. But if I'm honest, I only just bought ToC in this bundle, so it's fans may be right if they say it's better than NBA.

I'm patiently awaiting Apocalypse World 2nd Ed. to release the print and/or PoD product and then that's gonna be my first hippy game.

Vietnam. But it finally went through. I'm in Australia but I have had the same issue with certain stores' merchant service taking AGES to verify a payment.
