They are, its called The Defenders. Another Netflix show. Releases in August. Also, I watched the first season of Wynonna Earp on Netflix. Its... I dunno. I'd give it 3 stars. Its a decent story, but its also a little corny at times. Some of the acting isn't good. But it held my attention for 13 episodes. So there's that I guess. Thanks! I meant more like the old comic book, straight-up: POWER MAN and IRON FIST as a series. I'd seen the teaser for The Defenders, and I'm cool with it, but it's also got DD and Jessica Jones. That's a different dynamic than what I want. We'll see, though! I'm hopeful about more Marvel TV series. Agents of SHIELD s3 finally came to Japan, and I'm going through it about six episodes a week right now. It's the best season so far. Surprising body count, though! There were characters that looked like they'd last a season or two, and BOOM, they're gone. It's almost like the writers' pit isn't seeing eye-to-eye. I'm hoping after this first round of shows, they'll catch their stride with what works and what doesn't. They're already going for a Punisher series, but I believe Iron Fist season 2 is already contracted, but maybe they can work it into Heroes for Hire.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this here, but I had a whole concept for Iron Fist that made him a little bit more of the joker of Defenders lot while maintaining a bliss-ninny sort of outlook on life. Problem I see with the Netflix group is all of them are so grim and scowly, there's no one that can crack a little wise at the ridiculousness of any situation. (KInd of like Spider-man whenever he pairs up with Daredevil). Couple THAT guy with Luke Cage would be a lot more fun to see.

God, SOOOOO disappointed by Iron Fist. I have loved every Netflix series until now, but Iron Fist was such a chore to watch. I simply had no sympathy with any of the characters. (Except Madam Gao, she was cool) I was defending the series, before it's premier, from those complaining about cultural appropriation. Netflix had done such a good job converting the Blaxploitation era Power Man into Luke Cage (I think my favourite of all the shows so far), I was really excited to see how they'd deal with Danny Rand. Turning him into a whining brat, who wants his Dad's business back was NOT the way to do it. It's a tenuous connection, but the short lived cop show Life (where Damien Lewis plays a framed cop who gets out of prison having become a Zen Buddhist) showed much better how to have fun with that approach. But I think it was the wrong approach anyhow - I really am not interested in another boardroom drama. I found myself by the end agree with the "cultural appropriation" brigade, and wishing they'd made "Master of Kung Fu" instead. +1 of the show Life - it was a good show. As to 'Iron Fist' - I think the director rather than the cast or story should take the blame for it's lackluster presentation. I expected a homage to the old Martial Arts flicks of the 70's and 80's (from Bruce Lee thru to Jet Li and Jacki Chan, from Chuck Norris to Jean Claude Van Damme and Steven Segal*), in the manner of Luke Cages' homage to the blaxploitation films of the 70's - instead it was a generic paint-by-numbers plod through the script as written. Aaron * before he weirded out and started walking around with his hands held permanently in front of him like a preying mantis (which I *think* is his intent but he comes across a more like a curious rabbit or playful kitten)

You're not alone . . . I love it's mix of contemporary and 60's modern as well it's 'telling the story from his point of view, as an unreliable narrator'* Aaron *for those confused by the story, that's why - you're confused because he's confused . . . but trust me it makes sense by the end.

I thought Wynona Earp was awful. I watched one episode of it and had to shut it off. Girls who can't hit the broad side of a barn all of a sudden is a crack shot? Deuce Ex Machina anyone?

No different from any other "character suddenly becomes the best" BS.

No different from any other "character suddenly becomes the best" BS. See that would be a major difference in my version of Iron Fist - he wouldn't be the best of K'un Lun. However because he was burying his father in New York City, he was not present when Davos the Steel Serpent attacked the temple and killed everyone. In fact, he wouldn't be aware he had become the Iron Fist until the mark started to appear on his chest, followed with "Shit."

I thought it was incredible. Really bold for a Marvel property, too. I'm not saying I'm not a fan normally - I loved DD and Jessica Jones - but I hadn't seen a level of darkness like that in anything with their label.

Scene opens to remote external shot of remote mountain monastery, with a village along the base. Close in one of the small huts along the base of the mountain. Weather is rainy and poor.
Cut to inside - a local family is eating dinner, they're speaking in Sino-Tibetan. A clay pot starts vibrating on a shelf. The family doesn't notice as the pot continues to vibrate towards the edge of the shelf and then falls off. They look over. In the midst of the smashed pieces is a cell phone, playing KC and the Sunshine Band's "That's The Way I like It". They look gravely at one another.
Cut to the father trekking up the mountain - it's a slow, perilous journey. As he climbs, the rain turns to snow and slush, but he treks on until he makes it to the gates of the monastery. The monks meet him at the door, he shows them the phone. They usher him in with grave demeanor.
Cut to inside of temple, a hooded man is meditating in front of a shrine. The villagers walks over, stands by him for a few minutes then clears his throat. The hooded figure looks over as the village extends the phone toward him. He reads the phone display. In a quick movement he throws back his hood, revealing himself to be a blonde Caucasian as he looks closer at the phone, making sure of what it says. Then he speaks.
"Shit."

Finally picked up s1 of The Wire. A bunch of friends have claimed it's the best TV show since sliced bread, and I want to watch it before it loses relevance like Hill Street Blues or Cop Rock.
