It's been good so far, though some people are losing patience because things that make loads of sense...eventually...seem strange at this point.

We re-watched The Mighty Thor and Thor: The Dark World this week. They're my least-favorite Marvel movies, but I've grown to enjoy Thor's friends' interaction and, of course, Loki's corrupted heart. If there is a shortcoming to the MCU, it is getting so much talent and then underusing it with utter abandon. Anthony Hopkins certainly gets enough screen time, and Hiddleston's well-used, but Idris Elba, Tadanobu Asano, Rene Russo, and Stellan Skarsgaaaaaaaäárd would all benefit from more time. Skarsgaard gets more time in the Dark World, but there we see Christopher Eccleston with a couple monologues… but that's about it – and HE'S THE MAIN VILLAIN!
Crazy.
I'm looking forward to Ragnarok though. That looks like it'll have a good balance of action and humor. Hopefully Cate Blanchett and Jeff Goldblum get their time in the sun.

Oh, man. Odd Thomas was a 99¢ rental from Apple last week, and I'm always curious about modern fantasy… but this was not a good movie. Overall, impressive production value – I mean, it has good effects if overly reliant on CG, but it is an utter hodgepodge of themes, and can't decide if it wants to be scary, funny, or a modern noir. Tonally it is clearly coming from some kind of YA novel as source, but then the first "case" Odd solves involves a child rape and murder. Later on, we see Odd's SO, Addison Timlin, in something from Victoria's Secret that clearly outlines her labia in the front, and is a thong in the back. So… maybe not for kids? Anton Yelchin does the best job of coping with jumbled, contrived, uneven dialog, but he's still struggling. Everyone else sinks outright.
In brighter news, American Gods is on Amazon Prime Streaming Video in Japan, so that's next up, you'd better believe it.

I'm prepared. I'll probably just stare at Mr. Wednesday dreamily.

Any opinions on MST3K: The Return?
Sure, it's different, and the Bots' new voices are taking some getting used to (as they always did when their VAs changed), but I'm enjoying it so far.
Only negatives I can come up with is that I'm 8 episodes in and so far there haven't been any quotable quips that I can recall, there haven't been any laugh-out-loud moments, and... I don't like the pointless celebrity cameos.
Aside from that... yeah, I'd watch more seasons. This version has movies I've seen before. Two are guilty pleasures of mine: The Land That Time Forgot and At The Earth's Core. (Coincidentally, both Burroughs stories starting Doug McClure! Lol)

Ok... just had an LOL moment in The Loves of Hercules. The pudgy-faced icon over the city gate that the Bots had talking like a sassy Droopy Dog.

Any opinions on MST3K: The Return? Haven't gotten around to watching it. To be fair though, I never really got the draw of the previous one either. It was fine, I just never understood why people went crazy over it.

TBH, new MST3K puts me to sleep. I'm about the same. Glass half full; I'm an insomniac so they get views for that reason.

We just finished season 2 of Sense8 and I'm already dying for the next season. Also Black Jesus is a lot better than I thought it was going to be.

TBH, new MST3K puts me to sleep. Actually I have that problem with the original MST3K too. I've tried three separate times to watch, and passed out surprisingly quickly each time. And no, beer was NOT involved. Much.

I've never been a MST3K fan. So I like the reboot as much as the original.
