I'm fairly new to GURPS and have only had two sessions in my Fantasy game so far that have involved combat. I'm building out some cheat sheets for myself so that it can run a little smoother, but I have one question that needs some clarification. The rule for "Major Wounds" specifies that it is any single wound that does over 1/2 the target's HP. But it doesn't specify if this is their current or total HP. My assumption is that it is total HP, especially since HP is used to represent bulk and mass in other areas (slams, falling damage, etc.). Is this correct or is it the other way 'round?

Heya, ZT, welcome to the wonderful world of GURPS! It's Max HP, not current. You may find a lot of the posts at my site TheMook.Net useful if you're still starting out (including a few cheat sheets). Have fun!

Thanks Mook! I've looked around your site and have a few of the sheets downloaded. I also have your book I must say that I am loving the system. My players are having fun with it too, though its taking a bit to get used to. Once I figured out the "Take what you like, leave what you don't" attitude of the system, it's been pretty easy.

Hey mook! I also went to your site to check your cheat sheets and I had to ask something. In the Hit Location sheet, it says "Wounding modifier is x4" on Head. Does that mean that attacks deal four times more damage, or does it have to do with Major Wounds?

Not Mook, but I read that as the wounding modifier becomes X4 (regardless of type) for remaining damage after armor DR + 2 (for the extra 2 DR the skull provides).

Awesome, ZT, glad to hear y'all having a good time, I hope "How to Be a GURPS GM" was helpful in getting you started.

Hey mook ! I also went to your site to check your cheat sheets and I had to ask something. In the Hit Location sheet, it says "Wounding modifier is x4" on Head. Does that mean that attacks deal four times more damage, or does it have to do with Major Wounds? Heya, jonas! ZT's got it right. The damage modifiers listed on B398-399 take the place of the usual modifiers for damage type, so all types of penetrating damage to the skull are x4. 10 points of cutting damage to the Torso = 10 x 1.5 (for Cutting) = 15 points total damage 10 points of cutting damage to the Skull = 10 - 2 (for Skull DR) = 8 x 4 (for Skull location) = 32 points total damage! Note that the damage modifier for location doesn't always increase the multiplier. For example, arms/legs and hands/feet all reduce large piercing, huge piercing, and impaling damage to x1 (when they would normally be x1.5, x2, and x2, respectively).
