Hey people,
I was wondering, about N. Cal gaming cons. I know a couple of people of the show have mentioned Big Bad Con which is a great rpg con if you really like indie games. The guy that runs the con Sean asks me to attend but as my son's birthday is usually that weekend and I cannot attend. This year its on October 13-15 and my son's B-day in on the 14th!!! I have gone twice and both times it was a blast. Sean is a great guy and even though I don't attend I always buy a ticket since proceeds go to a good charity!
In Feb there is DunDraCon which is the longest running game convention on the West Coast. The one I have been going to longest to, I started going to DDC in 1992 and have not stopped since. A great rpg con where every RPG is in its own private room. Except for organized Pathfinder and D&D that use a large room. They also have board games and minis. Coming up real soon is KublaCon, over Memorial Day weekend, which is getting pretty big at least from my experience, I think they will pass 3000 attendees this year. Its in a real nice hotel and its my family's favorite Con to attend. Many games of all kinds. A real plus for families is that KublaCon as a dedicated Kids Room which is staffed and holds events from board games, rpg games, crafts, etc. and a Teen Room.
For the past few years there had been 2 game cons on Labor Day weekend. But sadly one of them stopped and we are left with Pacificon. Which is a smaller and not as well organized as I would like to see. But it scratches that itch of a Labor Day Con which I first ever started attending to back in 1983.
So me and my family attend 3 cons in N. Cal and we have a lot of fun. We are a mix of rpg and boardgame players. I run usually a 6-8 hour game at the con to get a free badge as most cons do. I have run many games, from Space Opera, D&D, Gamma World, Twilight 2013, Dresden Files, Star Trek Adventures, and many more.
What are some of the Cons you attend?
If your going to KublaCon, I might see you there!!!
